This may be what's also preventing KT from working properly. Neither of the two part unlock methods are working.
So turn on cheat mode in the same console....
...LOL, funny how I utterly skipped that part of the official console commands page.
In my experience, the further along you are, the faster the parts seem to unlock.
It's not a cheat, but I recommend having one character with "curious smith" and one with "curious smelter", bang out one weapon line, to tier V, then you get a lot more xp for smithing and smelting the items.
(I just remembered...) if you want to cheat, and can't get the console commands to work, then enable console cheats, then when you open the items screen, you'll have all the items in the game in the left side of the screen x10. filter by price, then take the most valuable weapons into your inventory and smelt them down. Your xp and unlocking will be exponentially faster that way.
To maximize, I like to do it while doing "escort caravan" missions. Escort the caravan, destroy the bandits when they attack, race ahead to the town, smith and rest until time to leave again.
Now, I'll mention that I just (yesterday) got 2h Maces, 2h Swords, Polearms, 1h swords, and javelins all researched, after many hours of wearing out my mouse's left button.
I wanted to get achievements, so I haven't used cheats (this time), but I tell you, if I start a new campaign, I'm cheating... end of story. It just isn't worth the grind (or wear and tear) to do that again.
^^ this.
the "cheat to unlock all parts" is super super super new.. because people couldnt figure out this super super super difficult strategy on their own.. of :
Get in cheat mod
Open ITEMS from campaign map (not from a town)
Sort by COST, Most expensive at top
Scroll down. taking 10 of the most expensive 2 handed sword. 2 handed glaive, 2 handed axe. etc
Smelt all of them
Rinse, repeat.
Would take about 3 minutes to unlock everything, when the unlocks were EVEN SLOWER than now.. and we didnt have the commands.
Like I said..... still confusion.
If only 1/3 unlocked.. NO PROBLEM
Close inventory screen. Open it again. All the items are miraculously back. Take them out like before.
Still didnt unlock everything u want???
Cool. DO IT AGAIN.
like I said whole thing takes 3 minutes (counting multiple Close/Open of the inventory screen)
