Why Does No One Want To Marry Me?

By that I mean, why are there no AI who pursue my character, convince me to marry them, and pay me a ton of cash for my hand in marriage? Why is it always me who has to chase and pay for it? Ir doesnt matter if I have a male or female character, the player is the one who always does all the work and always pays.

Also, why cant I marry anyone? It seems I can only marry a vassal. Why cant I marry a wanderer or companion? My character starts out as a nobody, I should be able to marry other nobody's.

I quit playing a few days ago because I wasted my time running around Calradia trying to get married. I had a million coin and my own Kingdom and couldn't get a woman to marry me.

I should be able to grab any girl off the street at that point in the game.

Not roll dice on the matter.

Weird I got married in no time after spending most of the game racking up 20k gold from traveling around southern empire towns clearing backstreets and clearings.(netted some nice big clan-wide relation improvements) I had no kingdom and like an army of 15.(4 of which are companions, 1 is a temporary quest companion) Just save before every dialog dice roll. If you fail reload. Since you do all the work you know when everything is gonna happen.

Otherwise ya the marriage system kinda sucks. It really doesn't mean much either except for producing more heroes in your clan. Which takes forever anyways.

You took too long to go after it, now you are old and no one wants you :P
Jokes aside, its a age thing. Many people reported that after age 35 the marriage option is disabled.

The workarround for it is to download the mod which enable the devconsole and use a command to change your age.

You pay for it because the other person is being sacrificed to join your clan, and since this game is Medieval Power Fantasy Simulator 2020 I guess they figured the player wouldn't be terribly interested in being the one sold off to become an NPC drone for some other dude for the rest of their campaign.

You can apparently become too old to marry, if you don't begin any relationships before you turn a certain age (35 I think).

That would explain my situation then...I've met every criteria for three or four prospects, and had them turn me down for 'we're just not compatible'...okay, a 37yr old scoring an 18yr old is understandable (except I'm fabulously wealthy and ride a red sports horse), but getting knocked back by the 32 year old single one was a bit questionable. Hell, another year or two and they would be giving her away in the marketplace with two chickens and a pig just to get rid of her.

I hope this bit of spam trips someone's google search who doesn't do what I did and go read a USELESS YOUTUBE VIDEO, and then go spend hours tracking down the most desirable ladies of the kingdom and NEVER get an option to flirt with them.

Not ONE of the YouTube guides on getting married or having a baby mentions this dumb age cap.

I am pretty patient with TaleWorlds; I mean have I ever waited 10 years for anything else? --But this made me pretty angry.

I mean for Heaven's sake, guys, when your brother tells you to go off and start a Kingdom, he should mention to you that you only have a couple years to get married.

AND IT IS DUMB!!! It's just DUMB that at 41 years old I own 4 castles and 8 settlements and have 600,000 gold and no one wants me? OUCH. IRL I'm 54 and I have a 5 year old boy!

If you want to make some age cap, it might be realistic to prohibit a female hero over 50 from getting pregnant, but the age-marriage thing is nonsense.

Having said all that, I will say that after I de-aged myself I had a MASSIVE AMOUNT OF FUN trying to marry the finest, and richest females in the land.

I got some recommendations from the Web. This was posted by Bomjus1 on Reddit

Ira: has omega combat stats, 90k horse armor, and some of the best armor (jeweled helmet, 215k chest armor etc.)

Yana: not the best. quite the looker for sure. but only 8k horse armor. saving grace is having a bow worth 30k. but total sell price of all her gear is only 68k. same situation as svana. if you run out of "combat wives" to marry, Yana is a good last chance.

Arwa: too lazy to go through process with arwa as well. however, was able to tell from map model that she has 60k horse armor, ~30k chest piece, and a bow on her back. idk which bow though. a step up from svana or yana, but not as good as some other wives.

**Abagai:**too lazy to go through the marriage process any longer. she is wearing leather armor of some type in her picture so i doubt it is worth that much. her horse armor idk about but i would choose ira/lieana/silvind/phaea before abagai.

Liena: same as silvind/phaea. 84k horse armor, decent armor set and combat stats.

Phaea: same situation as silvind. has ~90k horse armor. decent tier 4-6 armor set and good combat stats.

Silvind: honestly, pretty good choice. horse armor sells for 84k which is plenty (since most merchants don't have enough money anyway). armor set isn't worth that much money but it is all tier 3 - tier 6 armor which is more than enough to easily plow through tournaments. also comes with a couch lance. which is a nice little bonus if you haven't found one yet. good wife choice.

Svana: 14k horse armor, 30k chest piece, 21k helmet. good combat stats, not the best gear to make a fortune off of. with gear like Ira's, you can sell just the horse armor and wear the other armor to immediately start wrecking face in tournaments. svana is worth it if you run out of marriageable options.

By the time I de-aged myself, most of these ladies were also age 35 too! I chased a couple of them before I realized that was also a problem. I was quited bummed because Liena looks alot like my wife IRL, and that would have been fun.

Once I narrowed the list down there were only a few ladies left. Even with 100 charm I struck out a LOT. The conversations were funny. Tracking down the gals who actively campaign is difficult.

All of the blondes -- which I prefer -- shot me down, and so I tried my luck with Ira. She is beautiful and FIERCE. I followed her around for days. She was traveling light and moving fast so I had to drop my party down to keep up with her. Then I lost her until I realized she was travelling in a larger army.

I followed her Kuzait army far into the south, then I lost her again around Husn Fulq. The rumors had her in that town, but I could not find her for days.

Finally I realized she was sitting in the dungeoun!!

I went down to the dungeon and tried to profess my love for her! I saw her sitting there through the door hunched over and depressed looking. The game wouldn't let me talk to her!! I imagined I had tried to talk with her and she wasn't feeling it! I hope they add in the ability to talk to prisoners.

By the time she was released she must have turned 35, because she dropped off my eligibility list. The dev console will let you generate a list of eligible ladies.

I finally gave into the reality that I had missed the window for up-and-coming debutantes who could probably kick your ass, and settled for the fact that I needed a baby momma 1st and foremost.

So, I found a nice Nord girl -- Idrun. She and her father Olek were Nords who had recently joined Battania -- I really don't know their story. She isn't a looker, but fell for me like a ton of bricks and her dad liked me too! She had high Steward and Trade -- so not useless. Olek only made me pay an 8K dowey!!

Plus, marrying in my own Kingdom was smart becasue Olek immediately went to +46 Relations with me!! Now I have a real ally in Kingdom politics.

The whole getting married thing was increadibly fun, ONCE I DE-AGED myself. This age 35 thing needs to GO, or at least be explained.

I think a great fix for this would be as follows:

Female characters should have the option to play as real midieval females -- They can't have children after 50 (unlike the men -- who can have them until 70) BUT they are constantly offered marriage based on their CHARM, including a dowery. And, unlike the men, when they marry they switch kingdoms.

That would be cool. That would make playing a young princess really fun. Especially once the diplomacy gets more worked out, that could be damn cool.
