Tips for commanding cavalry in Captain Mode?

The AI seems to be so dumb, the cav do okay charging but then just sort of stand in the middle of infantry getting killed. Is there any way to command them to keep moving or do I have to keep moving with them?

not that ive seen or noticed yet. though something i usually do is move them off to a far flank and wait to send them in, send my soldiers in and move the cavalry to the back and charge them in or what usually happens for me right now they start routing and i send them in to finish breaking them and to take down those who are fleeing.

1) Issue a charge order before the distance drops under 80~100. Cav need room to accelerate.
2) After the initial charge, quickly assess the situation and either; (a) have them pull back, or (b) have them charge THROUGH the enemy lines.
3) Regroup at a sufficient distance, have them line up again, and then re-issue charge order.

Cavalry with strong charge like the Vlandian Knights can destroy 2~3 times more number of infantry with such repeated charges -- so long as you don't make mistakes and let them get caught standing after the charge.
