I might remember wrong, but I think it has been mentioned at some point.
yesterday i got a bug in a hopless siege that my slightly smaller besieging army started battlemap in throne room with all enemies and my army packed in that room, it turned out to be a great advantage because despite their numbers, my close quarters guys were better in quality. it was a bug but it seems it is quite possible to have that feature and i think it will be on full version.
because in siege, lot of unit are fleeing into the inner keep, actually its as they were dead, but you can imagine a 2nd battle there.
its same with infiltration theres may be a way to assassinate the lord :D
That last part of sieges in Warband where you go to the inner keep was always BS. You're always outnumbered despite heavily winning the outer defences.
So I hope they balance and fine tune that before throwing that out to the public. It needs to be more than just another tournament fight in a different setting,
Says me.
You remember correctly. Multi-Stage Siege battles are planned.
Absolutely. And, it'll be a smaller battle as well with likely a selection of troops on the field.
I'd like to see that, just so long as it's not too overpowered. Something like a mission to "Open the Gates" like in Medieval II:Total War or some of the other Assassin missions from that game. (Poison the Well, Assissinate the Commander, Burn down a building, etc.)
Yes, balance. That's important.
If they were to re-implement such thing from Warband its gonna be Hideouts 2.0. You'll spawn in the keep with 3 random soldiers of your party against their noble tier highest ranking troops...
Atleast that was the thing with the Warband, and thats when you would need your own fighting skills.
PS: If you were to lose that fight you would lose the siege in Warband. You've killed over 200 enemy on the walls but you've got knocked unconsious in the keep... Well, you gotta besiege that fief again...
Cant tell how many times I lost sieges in Warband that way.
+1
But as of now, they are counted as completely routed. When the feature comes, the attackers may proceed through that gate to initiate the keep battle.
It was a very unfair mechanic, to be honest. That's why most mods didn't include it.
BUT, it could be a very good mechanic if it was done correctly.
First, a bit of a larger-sized fight so players who have been focusing on non-combat roles still have a decent chance. Win that fight, and you'll win the siege. (I wouldn't necessarily require it for every siege, though. Some sieges are tough enough without it.)
The next fight "might" occur... or might not. It's to capture escaping Lords. You'll take a small contingent of the top tier troops in your Order of Battle and fight your way past some body-guards to take down one or two of the Lords present and conscious at time the first stage was won. Win and they're your prisoners if you wish. Lose and you still win, but they have a better chance to escape.
Anyway, something like the above. Not terribly difficult compared to the siege and a bit extra at the end if you can complete it, but not a complete failure if you can't win all the stages due to some lack of player-skill in melee combat. (No reason to penalize the hoard of Horse-Archer players... ;))
