Unbreakable AI Shields?
Is it just me, or do the AI have indestructible shields. It is most noticeable in tournaments. For me personally, it one of the most frustrating aspects to this game, however, it may be an unpopular opinion.
It just seems like one man can take hit after hit as if he's carrying Captain America's shield, but the shield I'm given is made of laminated cardboard.

I've broken their shields before. If you can pull crouch damage against an enemy shield, you'll see it break. Chances are, your shields will break faster in one on one combat. For one thing, you're probaly using a spear or sword, which are weak to shields. For another, the AI is generally more aggressive and less defensive, so in all likelihood, you'll be hitting their shield a lot less than they'll be hitting yours.

Your shield only takes damage if you block in the wrong direction, and the Ai never does that.

I tried the same, using an axe and only hitting the shield while walking around in a circle. Either that part is also fairly borked (like unit stats, production values, perks, skill levels still, smithing unlocks.... and so much more :p) and they take far faaaar less shield damage then supposed... or they're invincible which makes some perks fairly nonsensical.

No, that's not the case. Shield damage is calculated like all other damage in the game, base damage with a multiplier for velocity, it always takes damage, it can just take less.

At least in battles and sieges the (enemy) AI shields are breakable.

But didn't witness it during the tournaments yet...

Shields aren't indestructible, it may look like they are impervious but you probably aren't dealing enough damage to break their shields. Btw, i've noticed that even if you hit an enemy's shield you still gain xp with your weapon.

I've come to the conclusion that I'm just bad. A lot of you have said you've accomplished this seemingly impossible feat. I'll try to work on my blocking and see if direction has anything to do with it.

not only that but alot of them have super high 1 handed skill so they probably have the perks for more shield toughness.

You would almost think the shield designers designed the shield to be tough to break, who would have thought?
