Negative Influence? WTH?
So I'm on my second game and this time a new issue: The Kingdom I'm in has passed some laws which mean that my Influence goes down by 2 every day. I'm at like -40. I don't have a fief, probably because of this negative influence, which is no fault of mine.
I can't influence anything, and my Influence keeps getting more negative every turn. Impacts from victories etc. are soon swallowed up, so I can't make any progress.
This seems like a conceptual flaw - a Catch-22. Negative Influence means I can't change things which means more negative influence. Is there any way out of this?
(Oh, and I can't leave the Kingdom because a bug crashes the game. Thanks, Taleworlds.)

I don't understand how Influence can be negative anyway. Shouldn't it just bottom out at zero??
I'm starting to feel that a lot of things in this game were not thought through.

Leave the kingdom and choose one with no such policy. Or you could try donating prisoners to a friendly settlement not owned by you for influence for each you donate to try to get to the point you can get rid of said policy.

you can always donate prisoners to a dungeon to gain influence. enemy lords give up to 30 influence and the highest i have seen so far was a king of a hostile faction granting me ~180

Personally, while you could donate prisoners, i would tell that kingdom to go xyz itself and see if its enemies want a new lord...then i would try to capture the faction leader of that old kingdom, and remove their head...then hunt down their heirs, and start a bigass head collection till the heads of their entire clan are sitting in a glass cabinet in my new stronghold, which should ideally be the capital of the kingdom. ;)

Heh. Unfortunately, I have that bug where the game just crashes if you try to leave a Kingdom. Doesn't matter how you try to do it, you get a crash. So I'm stuck with old King ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, who hates me.

I also tried the whole donating prisoners thing. Maybe they tweaked it, because I never get more than a pittance....

To me, the crazy thing is the CONCEPT of negative influence. It's kind of like having negative numbers of troops - doesn't make sense.

Oh, and here's another thing. I just presented old King ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the Dragon Banner. He was overjoyed - said it was the most valuable service anyone had ever performed for him. Yeah!

You'd expect that would get me a crapton of Influence, right? Wrong. Got nothing.
In fact, for this valuable service I got - nothing at all. In fact, he still hates me. (-90)
Go figure.

Weird, i hand in like 20 looters and get about 10-15 influence. takes like a day to catch that many with my horse archers ( i think they must fire training arrows or something) but yeah unlucky, you can still get fiefs tho as i have received 2 without voting in them before, i think because everyone in my kingdom loved me for doing heaps of quests for them though. But restarting is always an option, especially if you opt to the beta patch since you can level much faster on it

No mods. The problem (identified in another thread and tested by some, including me) seems to be unresolved Kingdom Policy decisions. There have to be none hanging there unresolved when you try to leave. So either resolve them or let them time out.

Why so many? How many troops do you have in party?? I get 1-1.5 influence for 20 looters.

There is also negative building progress...
Once tried to build something in a castle with food shortage. Loyality dropped and daily production went to negative. Took a long time getting back to positive. Meanwhile, building progress had reached a nice -145% :lunar2019grinningpig:

56, 52 were horse archers of varying levels, 3 companions and myself. Just ran around edges of the map that had dozens of looters and captured them all with barely any dying
