Upgrade your RAM (it worked for me)
I know, I know, some of you will say: "having to upgrade your PC does not excuse poor optimization." This might be right but recognize its in EA and if you really want to play it, it's really the only option short of becoming a Taleworlds dev.

I had 8gb RAM when I first played the game, and it stuttered so bad it was unplayable. Plugged in 16gb RAM now and all of the performance problems I had with the game were fixed. So if you're in a similar situation, I would recommend an upgrade if you want to play this but are having issues.

New specs
i5-2500k 4.2Ghz
AMD Radeon RX480
16GB RAM (2133 Mhz DDR3)

So far smooth 60 fps now most of the time with close to max graphics settings. Have yet to partake in a massive battle yet though.

TLDR: It will be different for everyone since we all have different hardware, but adding more memory helped me play the game.

I got a i7-3770k, 1060 GTX 6gb vram, 500gb sata ssd and 16gb ddr3 ram 2100. I turned off aa, screen space reflections, bloom and a few other things and run them under the nvidia inspector instead, far better performance, before my game would slow down or freeze after an hour.
If you are getting freezing then you got bigger issues. maybe caused by your hacks.

8GB is fine. i have 8 and i NEVER had any stutters. OP just doesnt know how to keep his rig GENERALLY optimized.

Honestly anything under 16GB nowadays is a bad choice especially considering the next gen consoles will have 16GB of RAM so that is going to be the new defacto standard for sure. Heck, my new computer has 32GB because I am too lazy to close Chrome and such.
Seconded, RAM went unnoticed for me even with a decent GPU and CPU. It was undoubtedly what served as my bottleneck, and probably the root of other's as well. If anyone else was waiting for a good time to upgrade I think this game is well worth it.

Game is not badly optimized.
Just appeasing the trolls. In reality their minimum specs are gross underestimates. Store page says 8gb, they should really up it.
it works for me on 8 GB just fine at 90 fps stable (I capped them).

I think it has to be the SSD making a huge difference. Speed there might be helping make up for it.

I by contrast still have an HDD and that’s my next upgrade.
I don't have an SSD, that's why I said non-SSD (as in not an SSD).
Ah yes I phrased that weird i’m sorry. I just read after some forum lurking that transfering the game to an SSD really helped people and that got stuck in my head. Really curious as to why 8gb memory works only for some but not others.

Memory is always capped first for me, to be fair Windows 10 hogs 44% of my memory idle which is insane compared to Windows 7's 15-20%.

I can get it down to 31% if i close my browser. My page file is at 16gb because games like Ark and Minecraft expanded it.

When it comes to 8 gigs ram for this game speed can be important.

You’re definitely right about that. From what I know about Windows I think it uses as much ram and cpu as possible while idle for performance but scales back when other applications need it.

Do you have your page file fixed or system managed ? i think i set it to custom since i was afraid to let system use more, i put it back on system managed, it recommends 2.9gb ram but it uses 16gb virtual memory.

I think this was after playing ark which is one of the most unoptimized games out there.

Define gamespeed?

You die in battle and fast forward?

Or you mean general fast forwarding in the main map? I have no idea what you mean by 8 gigs can be for this gamesspeed can be importnant?

Because, as I have said before, everything is working fine for me as it is with 8 gb. I have corsair ddr4 2400.

Ram speed of course, when you only have 8 gigs it matters more how fast your ram is.
Doranos 2020 年 4 月 12 日 下午 11:22
TBH, an i5 2nd gen might be the bottleneck too

SSD and CPU will have far more effect on that thou. Speed and memleak arnt relative.

I tried both and didn’t see a big change. From what I have read online you want virtual memory set so the minimum is 1.5x your RAM and max 3x your ram. Might want to check that yourself though.

Clock speed between 1333mhz and 2400mhz only produces about a 6-10% appreciable difference, the amount of ram you have is more important to not end up bottlenecking the system. Even if you have 16gb of ram, bannerlord currently has the very bad habit of mapping 9-10gb of texture files directly onto ram for quick access and not using virtual ram.

Yeah, i've never actually seen a game cap my ram first, it's always either cpu or gpu.

It definitely will be soon I think, but not for bannerlord so far. Game at max only seems to use 70% of it. I think they did a good job optimizing CPU usage, read alot about how they tried to get all cores working together. With how well it runs now I personally had a memory issue.
