I am not mad and it took me a long time to get to where I am, I don´t know how to make money, so it´s been a drawn out afair killing stuff to get my army supplied. I also don´t know how to melee, tried the arena and kept at it but can´t seem to get any better.
So, I killed TONS of bandits, got some cash .... I am in no way right at the start.
So, kill more bandits until I reach rank 3?
All while being a mercenary, max out your companion capacity, equip them with the best stuff you can possibly get as soon as possible and make them their own lord under your clan to wander around with you or in a combined army with you so you can get leadership really easily because leadership plays a huge importance later when you have your own kingdom. I'm doing a playthrough right now with this strategy and the factions are all pretty balanced because I'm not letting any one of them get too powerful with whoever they're at war with and usually the losing side is willing to pay me insane money to help them, especially since they're probably people I released after combat consistently and really like and respect me.
Long story short Mercenary for big money----->destroy enemies, release them, capture forts, get paid BANK------>Join the opposing factions when they're getting too weak to prevent critical mass from one faction------> Repeat------> Buy top of the line everything for yourself and your companions--------->Make companions their own lords under your party to get leadership------->make more bank--------> when decked out enough in money and equipment, start your own faction by warring with the faction you like the least :D
I wouldn't recommend starting siege until at least tier 4, because you'll need the party size to do it well.
