Is there like plate amour like in warband and not just chain mail?

The closest you'll find is lamellar/scale plates and some plated mails/coats of plates; this game takes place a few hundred years before Warband, and full plate didn't really exist in the era it's inspired by.

The setting is set earlier than Warband, so full plate plate armor hasn't been invented yet. The best armors are in the Empire, with Imperial scale as the best torso armo with 50 body, 20 arms, and 20 legs. Lamellar is a good second, also found in the Empire. Their guarded helmet and lamellar accessories (shoulders, gloves, boots) are the best in the game too. Don't expect them to come cheap though. If you're lucky enough to find one in a shop, it's a nasty hit to your purse. The guarded helmet is around 400k.

Chainmail/Lamellar/scale armors are the "plate armors" for Bannerlord.

The higher tier armors and very rare in shops, you can win tier 4-5 helmets and capes in tournaments pretty often.

You either need to win a battle against a massive army to get top tier chest pieces, or get lucky in a store. I saw a ranger mail once which I wanted badly, but couldn't afford it and wasn't even close. It was in the hundreds of thousands.. I found a good chest piece once from raiding a sea raider camp... But it was hard af, they had like 23 guys camped there.

yea, your best bet is to marry someone from the empire factions with the best armor and take it.
Im trying to figure out how get the best armor in shops but it's really hit or miss.
Buying a shop in a city doesn't seem to be enough, or keeping it stocked with good metal.
I'm going to try buying all the armor and selling it in another town and seeing if I can reset the stocks to get them to make new good armor.
I have a feeling when you find those "good" armors in the shops its because a lord managed to defeat another lord and get their armor and sell it at that town.
