Can i start my own kingdom after giving away the dragon banner?
I did the main story line and pledged the dragon banner and myself to Vlandia. After a while Vlandia conquered the whole map. With no one else to fight i released my oath to start my own kingdom. With Vlandia having conquered everything i had to go to war with them to take castles but when i captured them the kingdom tab was unavailable. Can i start my own kingdom or is it all tied to the main story line with the dragon banner?

no.. once you give it away you are locked out of making your own kingdom for the rest of the game... after all that banner was the only thing that gave you right to rule and you gave it away.

That's a feature I don't like...

Usually, in Warband, I roleplayed out creating my own Kingdom due to the King of my faction either being a nimrod or insulting me by not giving me what I felt it was my natural right to have, me being much more... uberer than he.

But, this mechanic means that not only that gameplay is removed, but gameplay that others enjoyed like declaring their own kingdom without ever having joined a faction or leaving a faction to go out on their own and "become King by their own hand."

It's really a "wtf" kind of move away from Warband's gameplay.

Why must I be destined to be a slave for any reason?

I believe rebelling against your king, seceding or usurping the throne are all features that will be there on full release. Just not implemented now.

One would hope something else could possibly result in the ability for the player to have their own Kingdom...

Else, all those "Kingdom Management" features and the development costs associated with them in order for the player to have the powers of a "King" are going to be frequently... wasted development monies.

I mean, what else do you want? Obtaining written permission?
this game is boring, it's like warband but with fewer options. "walk around the map aimlessly for hours and try to find 10 people to tell you about something you dont even care about and then do loads of other pointless boring crap for more hours just so you can finally get your own castle and faction THEN have the ACTUAL GAME FINALLY START"... how about no. Waiting for mods, vanilla Bannerlord borderline sucks, and it's disappointing.
I found the fix. Download the Dev console mod (still works with beta patch) and then there is a command to create your own kingdom. And you can also add the influence you lost.
