Actually punching a whole in a wall isn't possible though, unless during the siege the wall was damaged and fixed by a wooden construction (which you can destroy now).
So you pretty much just have to adjust the horizontal axis for those targets... nothing more about aiming than that.
Ballista on the other hand are pretty much the same as a bow and just need a little bit of practise.
I think it is best to let the AI to the siege weapons and you go do something more productive.
