Is there a game manual ?
Is there a game manual ? I can't see one. There are certainly enough systems and complexity to warrant one if not ! I remember M and B 1 had a decent printable manual that came with it as a PDF.

6 weeks and no answer? How sad. Particularly since there does not seem the possibility to pause a battle (and I'm not even sure about that) in order to study the available orders.

Technically the game isn't released yet so there wouldn't be a manual. And even if there was, most games don't have manuals now.

Oh heavens, no. LOL I found this searching for "manual", checking the year didn't occur to me. That noone bothered to answer is still very sad.

Understandable to a point, given the shapeshifting quality of games under constant revision. It likely is painstaking to keep track of changes, as necessary for a manual to be of any value. But I would argue it's worth it for devs as well as players. If early access is meant as a testing ground and to build a fan base, guaranteeing accessability would seem essential. Imho, saving on providing a decent manual is penny wise and pound foolish.

Doesn't change the fact that it is still a shame that there is no manual...

My thinking entirely. Guess I did not make that very clear.

Sadly the time of manuals is over. Probably because games are made simpler and simpler all the time. Most older games had a certain complexity, that is just not present in most modern games. It has also become much more common to search for answeres on the internet, insead of a manual (for those games that still have a manual). And while mount and blade is one of the few examples of a complex game today I doubt that it will recive one.

Anyone who has tried to teach or explain anything to others likely made the experience how it sharpens your own understanding, and highlights aspects you may not yet have fully understood yourself. I would argue the same is true for the writing of a manual, it could serve to make inconsistencies in the game's concepts stand out like sore thumbs. And M&B is the type of game rich in concepts, where such inconsistencies are likely to creep in.

Its released now. Still no manual.
The tutorial is the same that was there was years ago. Which was fine when the game was very simple and unfinished. Now theres numbers and icons and lions and more which have no explanation.

Fond memories brimming with nostalgia when parents didn't allow me to play until after dinner and I reread the manual over and over again during the course of the afternoon.

But yes, old post is old, but I also would appreciate to have a manual so I don't need to socialise with the inbreds that populate the cesspit that is the Steam Forum.
Nah, just kidding, I love you guys soo much! (No Hömö!)

Maybe but like the old philosphers' thoughts this one still holds true and raises a valid yet unanswered question.

There's the Concepts section of the encyclopedia, but that's kind of like learning about sex from your parents, who will leave out the good parts.

What? There are good parts about sex? Damn! I shouldn't have listened to my parents.
