Drawing sword from the back?
It would look cool if it wasn't clipping through my shield, quiver and bow back there, but other than that, why are they actually in the game? They didn't even bother with making a working system for it, the sword just clips right through the scabbard. Attention to detail and all...

Because drawing sword from the back is not practical in combat situation without specifically made sheath. And even with it, it is not as fast as from the belt.
If you want to try it at home, take a stick and stand close the wall, now place the stick like a sword behind your back, and try to pull it out over your heard or shoulder.

That's what I'm saying, so why is it in the game ven for swords short enough to fit on a scabbard attached to the waist?

Probably because it's only a minor historical inconsistency that looks cool. Also lets everyone realize at a glance that you're wielding a 2h weapon which is handy for multiplayer.

Yeah there's a lot of clipping issues, especially when you start pairing armor together. But I love the fact that they allowed us to pair things together, despite the clipping. I'm so happy I'm not forced to wear a cape with a certain armor, or wear a certain armor to get a cape. I don't care too deeply about certain shoulder armor not playing well with other armor, because I know that would not be worth the development time to make sure every single combination of 3D mesh would align perfectly. Furthermore it would limit the amount of armor and combinations we would see, because of the fact they would have to spend that time polishing it instead.

I do wish they would scale back the limits even further, at the very least not make capes rely on shoulder armor.

There's a mod that changes 2h weapons from the back to the hip. Simple tweak, you can find it on Nexusmods.

You can`t draw long swords from your back. Yes, i`ve heard and seen some cases where the sheath is really loose so you can kind of swing it around and pull the blade from the back, but the actual properly sheathed sword in a proper hard scabbard CANNOT be pulled by any Human Being from the back.

That`s why it does not exist historically, just in dumb games and movies. I`m surprised some games still persist with it today because once you know this it just looks really silly.

this is the same universe that lets basic arrows pierce thru chainmail + gambeson armor like paper.

im really not worried about the realism to that degree.

Haven't had issues with armour (other than lacking variety), but clipping weapons get very bad very quick since you can set up a damn armory back there.

I barely know who Shadiversity is, but I know I saw a video of him wearing a hard scabbard on his back and pulling a longsword from it, so unless he's an alien (which is entirely possible) I'd say that statement is false.

I like how this guy explains it. It's entertainment not a history lesson.

Yeah, and i did specified that without specifically made sheath. I have seen one with the belt like system, where if you pull the sword, belt slide off, and that allow you to pull out sword more easily.

08:42 he mentions real historical references of people using custom scabbards for the purpose of having them on your back. Not at all very common, but doesn't make the thing ThankMeLater claimed any less false.

I was replying to his comment, yours I completely agreed with. The only reason for carrying a 2h on your back is if the situation really demands it for some reason, like if you had to climb or stay crouched and near the ground without your scabbard touching the ground to make noise. Or whatever reason those real life people used them, we don't really know.

On march. It is more comfortable to carry it on your back, on long lasting marche.
