Putting Prisoners in Castle Dungeon?
What's the point of this? Usually just selling them away but is there some reason to keep them captive?

I keep ones I want to bribe into my army in the dungeon. Then when I travel around I keep 10 to 30 of them with my party slowly recruiting them. I also keep bandits until I reach Disciplinarian in the dungeons. They can be upgraded to tier 7 troops. Although you can also give bandits to your Companion Party and they will do it for you.

Right at the moment the only reason to put non-lords into prisons is to.. store them. Maybe a mechanic later where prisoners slowly convert into the garrison but other than that, no idea.

Like Cleffy says, it gives you a way to store some units you can recruit later. The dungeon mechanic is kinda broken though, it works for units but not for lords. Lords magically vanish from the dungeon in a few ingame days, it's ridiculous, because 5 mins later they're back with an army to annoy you.

I store prisoners during wartime and then "donate" them to allied castles during peace time for that sweet influence. It was all fun and games until my enemies took my city and freed 1200 prisoners.

In my experience lords get ransomed without you asking to be ransomed, as in the game simply pays you and frees them but i guess that's better than the lords dissapearing

How do you "donate" them? Different than the ransoming?

You go to the dungeon of an allied castle/town (be it merc or vassal, maybe king as well but I haven't been a king yet so idk).
