What happens if I just ignore the main quests?
I failed the Investigate the folly quest and now I keep getting smaller random quests.

Apparently, the preparatory part of the main quest (aka. before the part where you either give the banner to a faction or use it to make your own) still has a 10 year period. When that 10 year period is finished (around 800 days or so), the current part of the main quest that you are on fails then the next part of the main quests is automatically given to you. You have about a week or so before that part of the main quest expires then it will give the next part all the way until the part where you need to collect the banner parts from the bandits. If after that and you still ignore it, then the main quest is treated as failed altogether and will be removed from your active quests. It will also block you forever from making your own kingdom since the main quest was the only way to do that (which sucks). If you conquer a territory without the banner, you only end up as an independent clan which, from what I hear, does not have access to the kingdoms tab nor can they recruit other clans.

1300 days and no issues at all for me.

I doubt I can start my own Kingdom, but I don't care to. There's not enough support in the game's engine with Kingdom creation and management features to really support that kind of playstyle right now.

That's pretty lame, I've always found the appeal of Mount and Blade that you can just do what you wish from the start.

freeplay.create_player_kingdom work, without the mod?

The classic answer to all of this is the Just Let Me Play[www.nexusmods.com] mod. Problematically you apparently need to be careful not to open saves that continue story mode. I don't know if it permanently destroys the save or what.

There's bound to be a console command to get rid of that conspiracy junk though. Hrm. Still not sure.

Or you can just use developer console, set states of any quests

Can you tell me how to do that? I'm sorry for being ignorant about it.

you need the developer console mod... then once you have that mod active you press the ~ key.

tbh I'm about to restart the game and just give the banner to a faction and be part of it, I tried making my own kingdom, it was going well beside all the other factions declaring war on me (or me randomly going on war with them without knowing) BUT I had that ONE vassal I was super friend with and had 40 point of relation with him, I gave him castles and cities and he turncoat on me....ragequit

I prefer not giving the banner to anyone. You dont even have to do the quest.

It is funner I think since it is still bugged as a quest anyway

Would actually like to have access to the developer console as default.
If we're doing beta gameplay I would like to be able to fix issues I come across like timing out the main quest or becoming too old to marry and so on.

Rimworld has it enabled, and it was very useful. Tynan knew that players want to alter their game if some BS happens.

Probably one of the best additions to that game honestly. Now that was an early access game done right.

I If you feel not so sure in using the console, like others suggested just use the mod,it is easy to install and it is plug and play, you spawn on the map and that quest basically never existed.
Thank the gods for modders!!

Rimworld is not only one of the best games on Steam it is also a model for EA games. Ty did a wonderful job.
