Saving Party Formation plans?
I appreciate the game sets formations automatically. But it's frustrating needing to set my formations every time I load the game. Are there any plans to save the formations you make with your party?

For Example, the Mercenary Crossbowman is set to formation I by default. Every time I load the game I move them to formation II. Would it be possible to save the formation i set them too so each load of the game does not reset this back to formation I?

I think an option to set the formation back to the default would be helpful if this is an issue. But normally I'm trying to balance out my formations with the types of units I have. It would be interesting to have this formation save because then it would make sense to dive deeper into how to format my troops, instead of being frustrated that these formations would be reverted once I load the game up again. As an example, It would be cool to format my Shield Melee Units from the other Melee Units without Shields, so I'm not watching my 2 Handed Axemen die when I want a shield wall with the infantry.

I imagine this is a early access issue that would eventually be fixed. But I realize if this is a bug, it's due to what the default formation the character class is before it's upgraded. However I don't think every class needs to bounce around every formation, it should be up to the player which is why I appreciate the existence of the auto formation. But the reason why I think it's important to fix now is because this is a huge army management feature that is going to be ignored / glossed over that could really bring out much more potential in battle.

I totally agree. It is a pain pressing 2 F3 F3 to spread thh archers EVERY fight. Then press 1 F3 F2 to have the infantry put their shields up. Why not be able to select sticky starting formations?

Yes it should be done, i always put a few of my less combat skilled companions to sit with the archers in Warband, and the game actually saved their formation then. I think they'll fix it at some point.

He meant the "troop types formation", as example infantry is 1 and archers are 2, but some units are badly assigned or (for some other tactical reason) someone want to always keep a special unit apart from the rest (like the companions).

However archers should start in spread out formation by default, that would also be awesome.

You're right that's my point, but I like the idea of starting a battle with a specific formation in mind too!

Honestly I think/hope this is a bug. Really, all I change is my companions, set them up as cavalry archers - but the game always reverts them back to group 1 infantry, even though they're all on horses.

And it saves the setting while you're playing. You only lose it on a save/load, so... i assume it's a bug. It'd just be nice if they actually fixed it, it's gotta be one of the easier ones. It is SUCH a pain to have to set it over and over and over and over...

My thoughts exactly! But I think there's also an argument to be had about moving formations back to their default incase you made a mistake or forgot your formation during your last play. I think it's obvious that decision should be up to the player, or there at least should be faster ways to setup formation by highlighting multiple troops to set all of their formations together.

One thing I do to help make this easier for now is move each troop by their icon so they are grouped. At the top are all my Companions, then Horsemen, Horse Archers, Archers, then Infantry. This way it's a bit easier to go into each troop and check that they are all together/the formation I want them in.
