Actual Freelancer Mod
I think we still have a long way to have this "promised" feature in-game. I don't have the slightest clue about modding, so I wonder if it's possible to have the Freelancer as a mod, or we have to wait for another year or more for modding tools to be released?

P.S: No! Captain mod is not Freelancer!

dev should drop army cohesion cost to ZERO for 2 lord's army, and config AI to likely create 1 lord 1 merc combined force. It's pretty historical

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but if you form an army with your companion parties, there's 0 influence cost to form or upkeep them.

yeah but it's like playing with yourself... I mean many situation I heard was a lord pick 1 company/regiment to fight along with his own army.
And if you only have 1 man...which is yourself, it's like a cheap fix of Freelancer.
But I guess once we have this setting, it's not hard to have freelancer mode either... kind of dope

You mean you want to join a lord's army and just fight for them as a mercenary? I think you can do that currently. It's free for you to join an existing army.

To join existing ARMY and not lord RETINUE and on top of it you need to be in that faction.
Freelancer allowed you to basically start from nothing and advance through ranks. Worked amazingly when RPed

Ah, I understand now. I don't think a modder is likely to do something that extensive until the game is more complete. Doing it now seems like it would be a hassle to keep updated so it doesn't break every patch.
