Mamluk recruitment?

Hey guys, posted this prior but got no answers... Can't find Mamluks anywhere on the campaign map. seriously is getting annoying at this point - is there a special place to recruit them?

Also, my option to recruit my prisoners is greyed out all the time for me. Is there a level/ability requirement?

Has anyone done either of the two?

Prisoners seem to only be able to be recruited after time has passed, especially for higher level troops. For instance looters and regular sea raiders will accept recruitment quickly(a yellow indicator pops up to tell you that some can be recruited) and tier 4-5 prisoners like sea raider chiefs never accept it in my experience. Knights/heavy cavalry seem to have a separate upgrade tree, so id guess they can only be recruited through castles/from lords and factions you are allied with.

That is really curious about the troop recruitment. I am with the Aserai, and captured 11 Royal guard units, and really, really, wanted to recruit them. Especially since I don't have horse archers since I can't recruit Mamluks for some ungodly reason. And no, you can only recruit from cities/towns. And they do not have Mamluk units.

Has no one been able to recruit them or any of the knight/heavy cavalry units? Do you have to be a lord?

I am baffled the Aserai don't have any cavalry at all.

They do. You have to recruit the 200 Cost Aserai Youth. Then you can upgrade them. But how to get a Mamluk is lost on me. Seriously wish a dev or someone would step in and tell me how.

Where do you get those....? I only see Aserai Tribesmen...

They should add more troop variety in the game anyways, but I think that will happen in due time.

I have found how you can get Mameluke's. You need to fight desert bandits and either capture Bedouin Rovers or Nomad Bandits and upgrade those to Mameluke's.

you need to recruit "aserai mamluke soldiers" which can upgrade to aserai mamlukes.

right click on a unit in your party and it should open up the troop tree encyclopedia.

Right i get that, my problem is i have no clue how to get this unit. Its not popping up in ANY village right now, despite good relations.

Same goes with the Viglia recruit to get cataphracts

Also, how long do tier 4 or higher tropps have to stay in your party before you are able to recruit them? the Jawal units ride Camels and I want them in my army but other than prisoner recruitment I can't figure out a way to get them. Even their lower tier unit won't turn recruitable after staying with my party 30 days

i know for certain that viglia recruits exist, as i've recruited them before, but i've been checking around the aserai villages and i haven't found any mamluke soldiers so that is very odd. I guess it is bugged.

nomad bandits and bedouin rovers do upgrade to mamlukes though so you'll have to farm desert bandits and recruit them for mamlukes.

it doesn't seem that bad though as the nomad bandits and rovers are easily persuaded to join you, i've already recruited a few when i was looking from village to village

Chiming in here, haven't gotten bandit leaders to offer up recruitment yet. Still waiting confirmation that tier 4-5 prisoners can be recruited.

I haven't seen any Mameluke recruits either, I assume it might be some kind of perk to owning a fief and maybe upgrading it could be wrong though.

I've only seen the aserai youths exactly once for recruitment and never seen them again. I'm on day 100 and while it is annoying i'm pretty happy with the aserai infantry preformance.

I found tribal horseman and youths to recruit from villages but was very rare. Think i first found them in Tubilis
