Suggestion: Bindable attack/block directions
After playing the game more, i really feel like this is one thing they should take from other recent medieval combat games. Using mouse direction never really worked for me in warband so i used movement keys, but that was really more of a bandaid. With bannerlords less forgiving timing of swings/blocks i really feel like they should adopt this as it was a great feature in games like mordhau.

You can enable movement oriented blocking. As to attacking...what's the issue? Do you not move cursor around the screen in shooters to aim? Do it. You don't have to swing left to right, slightest movement will do.

I mentioned that in my post. its garbage because you lose your ability to control movement AND blocking.

I do, but what im saying is other games have come out with objectively better mechanics for this. (binding to additional mouse buttons is an incredible step forward after you try it in other games)

Adding bindings for things that are already in the game would be pretty trivial for the developers (all they would have to do is open up bindable keys to the 'movement' directional option. Im not saying ditch the current system, im saying add this option for those of us who hate using our mouse to dictate directions.

I mean, I'm all up for there being more options. But it sounds like a silly idea to be honest. There's no easier way to change direction than...to change direction with your mouse. But hey, if some people want to make life harder more power to them. But I'd prefer for them to work on important things first.
This system is excellent, and it works.

Trust me, once you try it you can't go back. i thought it was weird at first but after using it puts everying else to shame. Again, im not saying that the current setup is horrible or anyting, ive played enough warband to be used to it. But i really feel this would add to the game after having played others with the feature.

I mean, I don't have to try to know it's bad. Changing direction with some keybinds? I need all my fingers on movement keys. Combination of wasd and mouse allows you to do footwork, control camera, and control attacks/blocks all at once. Which functions are you sacrificing? You can have 15 extra buttons on your mouse assigned to whatever you want, you can't change directions better than with a look.
It's how it works in Mordhau, it's how it works in For Honor, and in M&B. it's just how games work.

Ah, i get why you think its dumb now. Im not talking about binding to the keybord, but to macro keys on my mouse that i use with my thumb. It allows way more flexibility with your mouse, WASD, and swing/block direction all being independent of each other.

Using keyboard binds for that would be absolute cancer.

I understand how you want it to work. I just disagree with it :)
But again - more options wouldn't hurt anybody. If people want to play this game using guitar hero controller then more power. I'd pay good money to see that.

Getting flashbacks to the guy who played CS:go with a racing wheel, was really impressive.

Ahhhh after chivalry and morhau this control pain... swing <- on left button... swing-> on side button.... stabing = scroll up... slash = sroll down.... ...the old system with using mousee axis is terribleeeeeee..... please add bindings....

I agree 100%. Really hope they add key bindings for attack.

Agreed. Would love to see bindings.

If you like mods. Go get Autoblacker mod from nexusmods. Has several different methods of blocking styles.

There is a mod that does this. It is called Fluid Combat Overhaul. Not only does it allow keybinds (I have mine set up all on my mouse, just set it up, trying to get used to it), but it also allows you to switch attack placement without having to release and click again, same with defense. Just started using it, but so far it is super cool. Will take some serious getting used to, especially block on my middle mouse button. Luckily I barely block, haha.

update:middle mouse doesn't work for block, keep spinning it the tiniest bit and putting my shield away. I died.

I agree that the controls kinda suck. I find it particularly difficult to reliably move and overhand-chop or stab, especially in a scrum with lots of troops pushing such as in sieges. These are the times when specific attack directions are also most useful.

Always been a MB fan but after getting used to Mordhau keybinds I agree that they are superior!
