How to couch (with lance)?

Yea, mine says hit Z and that does not do jack.

They should really explain the mechanic in the tutorial since they decided to change it.

x is the correct keybind, but you need a weapon that is capable of couching. If you hover over the weapon in your inventory, there should be a tag that says 'couch lance' which means it is capable of being couched

not all spears and lances can be couched so you have to look for this tag to see if it is couchable

My Imperial Light Lance shows it should be able to be couched but I am unable to.

Explain please what I should do if the keybind doesn't allow me to couch like it claims it does.

Button is X for me, that's the default, you have to be going fast enough on your house and a symbol will pop up above your weapon bar, press x itll swap to the down position and you just run into people

Thank you Leliana, now I know what to look for and maybe my Imperial Light Lance is marked as couchable by game but in reality is not.

Basically - note that the lance does not auto coach. You have to run at enough speed and then press X once the symbol for coaching appears - and after a single hit (or if you slow down enough) the character will pull up the lance, and you'll have to hit X again.

I had an issue with mine where i needed a new, faster horse. I think 44 is minimum speed for couching

Thats really odd, am like 95% certain mine said Z. Checked a few times.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but i am new to the franchise and want to know where you got the imperial light lance and if items are random in shops?

Maybe the horse you are using is too slow.I read somewhere that minimum horse speed for couching is around 44.

Z is CROUCH. X is switch weapon mode or COUCH.
