Almost everything is faster on the map.
Am I missing something here?

A lord with 2x the amount of troops I have and less cavalry can move faster across the map than I can. Choosing to disengage and lose some troops from battles just seems point less when I get a 2 second head start and still get caught.

What more can I possibly do to increase map movement speed?

I believe if you get more horses, you can move faster

But I already have 37 cavalry out of 47 total. Other lords have like 30 cavalry and 60 infantry and move faster than I do?

Ditto. Everyone is faster than me, even though I'm desperately grabbing party speed skills. It's a bit ridiculous.

Level the scouting ability, get better horses. On higher difficultys you get a malus on speed and the enemy a buff.

Its always been a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flaw in the series, over land travel is slow and your regularly out run by pretty much everything unless you have a companion with super high skills, used to be pathfinding, now i guess scouting?

Yeah the speed has to be adjusted , in the original enemies became tough to catch if you were 30ish units above their number.
Here my party of 12 is slower than 500 doomstack. I don't like the new perk system takes too long to level up

It's much worse this time around though, the previous games were nowhere near this harsh.

You just need spare horses in your inventory. The foot soldiers will ride the spare horses in your inventory on the campaign map.

Prisoners slow your party down, extra inventory items do too. Having horses in your inventory should make travelling at least slightly faster (more = better, I assume)

^ what alex said, when you open up the options menu it tells you in a tooltip that more horses just in your inventory carry your belongings, increase your inventory size and increase your map speed.
if you use pack camels or mules your overall travel will decrease, the more of these are carrying your stuff the slower you get, but they have the upside of carrying far more than horses can which makes them ideal for caravans (if you want to go the trader route its very effective), however if you want more travel speed you will need to use horses, saddle horses are the most balanced as they offer decent speed and carry weight, but all horses except for warhorses are also effective. you can use warhorses too but they will only grant very limited carry weight since they're meant for war, not caravans.

i currently have 1 sumpter horse, 9 battanian pony's, 4 sturgian trotters, 12 midlands palfrey, 18 saddle horses, 3 desert horses, 2 battanian warmounts, 4 battanian thoroughbreds, and 1 pureblood (not including the horses i and my companions are using). together they give me a total carryweight of 3090 and travel speed of 6.21 (which is faster than any party or army i've seen so far)
