Why are crossbows so expensive?

Money (not talking tournaments only here btw) is very scarce unless you get the full win.

Items are randomized and not always useful, i will admit i DO see the reason of fighting in tournaments thats not what i am critical of here.

And for influecne i ahve yet to play far enough to see its use.

My main problem is just the way they butchered the practice arena. In warband it was a laid-back combat arena where you could practice some combat skils in relative safety with small gains to money and skill progression - sure in the late game going into it to train skills was essentially pointless, but getting over those early skill barriers where you felt really weak was doable in there. Now its just a pointless slaughter house where the best strategy is to hide in a corner and wait for there to only be one man left standing, as you cannot get any skill reward or xp from ACTUALLY fighting.

Update: I amassed the fortune needed to buy one, it's pretty neat. Lower the price, tho.
Also, I've only found ONE type of crossbow, is there really only ONE?
Update update: I now know of several ways to make good money in the game and the price now seems more fair, still, a "novice" crossbow must be added.

Yeah xbow costs like 20k in my game and I cannot use it because it needs at least 20 points in crossbow skill. So I cannot use one cause I need to practice and I cannot practice because I cannot use one

There should at least be a basic crossbow which you can level with as I want to use one for sieges but can't see a way of doing it as the only crossbow in the game that i can see appears to be the one mentioned in this thread.

Can't find a crossbow that requires less than 20 skill....started the game with 15 skill

It's like applying for a job...entry level position with expert level resume...

I have looted bolts, but no corssbow yet.
I've been harassing the empire for some lighter x-Bows, but it seems i need to crush Vlandia on my quest to find a training weapon with no X-Bow knowledge requirement, too.

BTW Vlandia arena fights can spawn you with XBow, but sadly practice fights are bugged and cannot reward you XP...

This was may question too... having a decent mace, shield and a crossbow with extended ammo was one of the easiest way to start a game in M@B Warband. Now, crossbows cost 20k+ and there is no small and cheap ones to start improving your skill with it.

and there is a quest requring me to get him6 crossbows and he will just give me 15k wtf? where do i get them.

It's probably intentional, I think crossbows aren't all that ready yet.

Like Dregora said. I think Crossbows are not finished. whats is currently in game is just a place holder. There are a couple things in the smiths creation also not quiet finished. Throwing axes have incorrect text from a removed attribute. Two handed maces, there is just one. So hopefully that means they'll be adding more weapons in the future.

Yes it is unbalanced boy, is early axcess. only crossbow, not the best one costs Hole town. of course it is stupid. There are many balancing issues on campagne map.

Got a quest 17k for 5 crossbows I was like WHAT! SWEET! Proceed to check the market 41,000 per crosswbow. LOL.
