Only in first person view?
Is there a view more akin to Kenshi? Top down, with the ability to zoom way in?

Lol.

OP : Playing in 3rd person grants an advantage, as you can see beside and behind you.
I always play in 1rst person view when available, and in Bannerlords you can change the FOV so it's not that bad.

In Kenshi the view is zoomed out because you move with the mouse, and I disliked it a lot.

I wish.. everybody seems to be playing in 3rd for some odd reason.
but then I saw somebody streaming and the face clips into view at least while mounted.
no wonder FPV isn't popular!
they need to really fix this one.

toggling 1st to 3rd removes that face clipping thing

First person view has never been popular in M&B. Most argue because the field of view is so much worse.

I use first person for archer and 3rd for melee.

I would much rather play the game in first person but it's so incredibly janky that I can't, the fov is wierd.
I actually found 1st better in wb

Pretty much the same but I also use first person for lancing.

3rd is just easier regardless of the clipping, that's why most people prefer it. Better awareness of your surroundings, no shield blocking your view, that kind of thing.

Third person provides more situational awareness. I only ever use first for lancing folk on horseback as it provides a better view for it.

this and ~ to look behind you doesn't work in first person

Warband had a strategic view for use while commanding which put the camera quite far in the sky, but this game is more 3rd person action RPG than strategy game.
third person is the mainstay for most people but first person is used by many for archery/ranged.

I pretty much exclusively use first person. I just like the feel more than being in third.

yeah me too. games like this are about immersion and realism for me.
you are not supposed to be able to see 360 especially while wearing heavy helmet that restricts your view...

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

In Kenshi, you are more like a "god" and can focus in on, and control, and character in your roster. I thought this game played a bit like that but it does not appear to.

I am not sure I will keep it, then...

Thanks.

I understand that you don't like it, the thing with the Mount & Blade series is that you both control your army by giving orders and also your character by attacking and blocking yourself.
It is nice because it brings player skill to the balance on top of its RPG stats, and you can make a difference even if the odds are against you.

In Kenshi, I remember yelling at my character "ATTACK, YOU FILTHY ♥♥♥♥! DON'T JUST STARE AT HIM!!".
Now I just yell at myself.
