How do I give my units horses?

I have 2 horses in my inventory yet I am unable to upgrade my troops to cavalry, thanks and gobbles.

You don't. They are for companions. Units get them when you upgrade them when they have enough exp. At least that was how works in previous titles. Gotn there yet.

so i can vouch for OP when i say they don't. you need horses to upgrade them but it doesnt tell you how.

Can confirm that sumpter horse would not allow my Khazuit Nomads to upgrade but the desert horse did allow them to upgrade. I wonder if each faction is limited to which breed of horse they can upgrade with.

I have noticed that the horses have types. I would imagine it's the War Horse type that is specifically used for unit upgrades?

Yeah the sumpter horse doesn't work for unit upgrades. Anything that has a horse type of horse seems to work.

You give horses to COMPANIONS, not troops. To have normal troops with horses they have to be cavalry units.

To upgrade infantry to cavalry, you need to consume a horse. Please play the game before spreading misinformation.

The horse type matters for units... mules and low quality wont upgrade... for Kurzs try steppe or desert horses

Yes you can. Make sure they have the necessary riding skill. Each horse requires a different riding skill.

1. To improve troops not every horse is valid. I've found out that only steppe horse or pricier horses will work, other horses are just for carrying stuff arround and giving the horses to your companions.
In fact, high level cavalry troops require WARHORSES (at roughly 600 coins a pip - they are pricy stuff)
2. For companions, on the inventory screen you can change who you want to equip with the arrows surrounding the character name, on the top of the screen

Hmm?? Your inventory where it shows you can outfit your character up at the top center click the left or right arrow which allows you to do the same outfitting (including weapons) to your companions

you need steppe horses to upgrade your troops, atleast for the khuzaits. not sure if it's a faction specific thing.
