I have literally never had an issue with MSI AB/ Rivatuner in a game until this one..... Not sure where your perspective is from but I for one am obsessed with having my AB graphs on my secondary monitor, having a slight hitch in a game and being able to glance over and see that blip reflected on the graph is one of the many satisfying "it wasn't just me" things about using it.
I have a custom fan curve set, which IMO is a must for any gaming PC since GPUs wont go over 50% fans out of the box. Several other things like also being able to quickly see temps on the same set of graphs as the aforementioned, so just to the other individual - don't be scared to use MSI AB from one negative experience with it... there are likely 40:1 that have had zero issues outside of very rare games like this one.
-Which, in my case, worked to just go back to desktop while the game is running and then reopen the game. You never know what tweak might fix it permanently, so don't just panic uninstall MSI AB!
Open Bannerlord, go to Options > Video > Display Mode and change to Fullscreen and click "Done". Close the game, run MSI Afterburner and then start the game. When the game loads the main menu, press the button that displays the information you have configured in MSI Afterburner on the screen.

Tested on MSI Afterburner version 4.6.4.16255 and Bannerlord 1.713
Tested this, still can not get it to work. Can you share your setting from RTSS and Afterburner?
Which .exe do you add, just Bannerlord.exe?
Edit:
Added all .exes I could find in folder, changed low level hardware access interface to kernel mode in Afterburner - still nothing.
Can anyone send a screenshot of RTSS working in Bannerlord and send their settings?
Thanks!
SOLVED IT!
If you do not care for profile in your RTSS, then just activate Global profile, put Application detection on Medium and you are good to go.
If you care about profile in RTSS, then you will need to start game directly from Bannerlord.exe, in your installation folder. Do not start it directly from Steam, because it activates files from Modules/bin but there are no .exe files. Steam can be turned on it is not an issue, just make sure you create desktop shortcut from Bannerlord.exe on your desktop and add Bannerlord.exe to RTSS.
(issue is with Bannerlord, mouse over the tool tips for
Enable low-level hardware access interface and read )
In MSIafterburner goto
Settings->General
Enable following settings
-"Enable low-level IO driver"
-"Enable low-level hardware access interface" and set to kernel mode *not user mode*
Also set Application detection level to medium in River Stats Server app
I have a profile for "TaleWorlds.MountAndBlade.Launcher.exe" in RTSS
Then it will work from the steam launcher (that way you get the game mod launcher too and run from steam , no shortcut required)
I guarantee you, if Afterburner+RTSS is causing issues, EVERY OTHER OVERLAY program that hooks in will have the same issues.
There are no alternatives to Afterburner+Rivatuner that offer the sheer depth of real-time data tracking, let alone real-time datatracking that is available as an on-screen, customizable overlay, which is VERY important for those with a single monitor setup. Add in that RTSS also lets you track minutia of non-gpu related settings, and it is the defacto 1-stop shop for a reason.
Afterburner+RTSS being hardware agnostic only adds to it's popularity, compared to manufacturer specific programs that can run into issues with some feature support being locked to their brand of cards.
