How do garrisons work?

Hey guys, how exactly do garrisons work in this game?
1. Does a castle/town acquire troops for garison on their own or do i have to manually put them?
2. Do they lvl up?

You'll have very low tier militia which the fiefs acquire themselves and the garrison which you have to put in. It's 2 different things that defend your castles and towns.

Also the garrison will level up, depending if you built the building that does that.

You have to manually add them unless they are there when you acquire it already. In the future you can build a building that gives them xp daily.

Ok thanks, but i read out of that, that f.e. putting recruits in it would be dumb, because only the militia lvls up or also the troops i put in?

The troops you put in will level up, but it takes a lot of time. It's better to recruit a few recruits and kill some looters before putting them in the garrison just to be safe.
