World Map extra horses for infantry question.
I heard that if you have extra horses, infantry will ride them on the world map. Before I run around collecting horses for 20 infantry, can anyone confirm this?

Thank you.

yes BUT, you can't use Mules, Camels or Sumpter Horses

i believe anything else is fine, easiest to just find cheap desert horses / saddle horses / midlands palfreys.

when you get some horses, check your movement speed bonuses by hovering over the icon at the bottom right, when i got a spare horse it said "footmen on horses = +0.05" or something

most horses can be used, mules really boost carrying capacity

They "ride" it on the world map in the sense that you get a passive bonus to your speed, yes

So, if I get fast horses for my infantry, the whole party will move faster on the map. Does the speed of the horses you buy for them matter?

my advise is go to the cities near ortangard (teal and yellow?) to get your horses if you are gonna buy them, those cities are always full of steppe horses

youre gonna want alot of horses but watch out for the herd debuff

Sumpters, Mules and Camels don't increase the speed of your party, but they increase your carry capacity by 100 each. All other horses increase your carry capacity by 20, but also increase your party speed as your infantry can ride horses on campaign map. As far as I know, speed of the horses is irrelevant.

the speed of the horse doesnt matter and you get a buff on the world map called footmen riding horses or something like that
You can watch your movement speed increasing as you put those horses in your shopping basket at the trader, and before even committing to buy them.

Dammit...I just got 20 camels thinking that they will ride them AND give a carrying increase. Are you saying they wont?

Related: don't have too many horses (or pack animals) in your inventory either or you will get the 'herd' speed debuff.

That herd thing sounds like you can travel around with a bunch of pigs or sheep and they will bread. Do animals bread in your party?

Camels are cheap and increase your carrying capacity, but they will NOT make you faster. They can however make you SLOWER with a herd debuff if you have too many (more than party members I believe).
I'm not 100% sure on this, but I believe horses that aren't Sumpters, Mules or Camels do not cause the herd debuff. Either way you don't need more than your party members.

Herd debuff can be caused by having more Sumpters, Mules, Camels, Cattle, Sheep and/or pigs than party members.

Ok, I'll take a loss on the camels but, do animals in the herd actually breed?
