Best Workshop Locations
So far the best I've found is a pottery shop at Pen Cannoc that can pump out around 400-500 daily gold. Anyone found other goldmine locations/combinations?

I have two workshops in Seonon, smith and wood workshop. Then a smith and wood workshop in Marunath.

They make around 300-400 each. I'm not sure if the location means anything though, I have an ironmonger in rhotae that makes the same.

Whichever city has an assigned town near it that offers the required resource. For instance Seonon i believe is best with smithy because 1 village offers iron ore and the other offers hardwood.

In my playthrough, Pen Cannoc is always the town most frequently mentioned in Trade Rumors as having the cheapest Pottery.

Maybe that could be a clue concerning where it's easier to produce such products?

If the price directly reflects local availability and costs not having been influenced by having to be brought by caravan or something, that could be a sort of sign that the player should check out such towns.

I don't know how/if the economy can vary according to starting conditions. It may not vary that much. I also don't know how great an influence caravans have.

In Warband, the easiest thing to do was first ask the Guildmaster, then check the Merchant, then finally check the villages that were attached to the town to see what they made and what their residents had to say. Then... go build a Velvet and Dyeworks somewhere else. :)

Location def matters when building a shop in a city, as well as which cities to even build a shop at all. Some cities only have horse breeders cows etc and cant really build anything profitable there

I got pottery workshop in Pen Cannoc and Marunath and they net me 300-400 each. I also had a pottery workshop in Occs Hall which netted me 300-400 but then it suddenly dipped to 40 just recently and I'm still trying to figure out why.

Pen Cannoc always has good pottery prices because all 3 bound villages produce clay so they always have raw materials in bulk

you dont have to own the city to get a workshop. when you walk around a city hold alt. you'll see different workshops (pottery, silversmith, smithy, brewery, wood workshop, etc) go to one of them, talk to a 'shop worker' and purchase it. you can change what it's producing while buying it or leave it producing what it is already. it'll take a few days for it to get up to max production. you can change it's production by going to 'other' on the clan interface as well as sell it if you want. If you end up at war with a faction who owns a city that you have a workshop in, they will confiscate it and you won't get anything from it. So if you're expecting war with a faction, best to sell your workshops before that declaration comes.

I've had this happen if a town doesn't receive much trade. Sure, you're making the goods for cheap, but with merchants not going there, you're also selling them cheap. I avoid towns are economically isolated for this reason. Pen Cannoc is a great example of a very good workshop town. Beyond having great materials, its also in a trade crossroads, between many cities that adore pottery.
