Your army composition and tactics
since i have so much time at hand to write.... here's how my war band looks like. I played all the M&B games, and now with bannerlord i developed different tactics in battle for which i found the most effective. In the beginning when I only have about 20 men, it's just F1 + F3, not much tactics to talk about. However, when my party capacity got above 100, and now 200 in my current save, I have about 20% mounted archers, 30% Cavalry, 30% archers and crossbows, then 20% infantry.

When the battle starts, archers go up in loose formation followed by infantry, with cavalry on left flank and mounted archers on right. If the enemy charges me, i just send the mounted archers in first for harassment and disrupt their formation while they come into my archers firing range(now it's cross fire form my archers and mounted). When the opponent finally get close into melee range, i send my cavalry first for a full charge followed by infantry and archers for melee to finish things off. Now, a lot of the times the AI does try to defend and stand their ground instead, in that case, I would personally lead my mounted archers to provoke them enough for them to break formation and charge my formation.

This has been working quite well for me so far fighting the empire, and with my elite party of 200, i can take on parties of 500+ without too much trouble, while suffering some 20-40 ish casualties on realistic difficulty. However, I haven't encountered parties like pure cavalry or pure mounted archers, would love to see how it turns out. Now, if you have time, why not tell us your personal favourite battle style, I'm kinda curious what people are doing in realistic difficulty.

i cant help there, i am at 110 troops, and still use f1 and f3, I am stil using my warband stratagy of as many heavy cavalry as possible, but since mounted combat is still clunky its not as good as early iterations. but if it was i would be heavily using exclusively cav

I have a 100 man cav army but not on realistic difficulty. They sound like rumbling thunder when they move out its pretty cool. And they kill everything. I dont even have to be at the computer during battle lol.

Elite cataphracts 4 life!

Lol, that's what I did in the first M&B, and Warband. Had too much fun with it that i want something different now with bannerlord. So far, i'm loving my mounted archers.

Predominately fielding Khuzait atm, so my lineup consists of heavy cav, horse archers, and a modest number of archers and infantry.

If the enemy is attacking, I use horse archers to harass and distract the enemy once they're within foot archer range, then charge infantry, and smash the flank with cav.

If they're defending, I harass with horse archers until they get tired of losing soldiers and get baited into an attack. :2015cookie:

15% Heavy Cav, 50% Horse Archers, 35% Archers(not crossbowmen).

If the enemy charges, anything tier 3 or lower breaks before they reach my line.
If they set up a formation-its usually the closed shield wall with archers in the center. With those, I ride ahead of my army, eliminate about 15 or so cavalry, then bring my troops into range. I ride around the circle, drawing fire while my archers and horse archers collapse the wall. My heavy cav storm in and usually its a rout within a minute.

I havent tried this tactic while vastly outnumbered, just on 150 to 500 with about 30 or so losses. Any "even" match is usually casualty free in my army.

Have better troops: F1 + F3

Have even better troops: F9 + F6

I just press f6 at battle start.. Mostly a fairly balanced army with a focus on both heavy cav and horse archers

you are very much still in early game. I'm talking about having party of least 200+, all your troops would had been maxed out a long time ago. You have as least a few settlements, and you are facing armies of possibly 1000+ , while on realistic difficulty.
