How to switch one-handed and two-handed grip?
I haven't tried for a while but once I did - I can't figure out how to make character hold switch between 1 and 2-handed grip on weapons that allow this.

Help, please?

X key I believe. By default that is.

Thanks!

X also makes your lance go into couched stance, if it's capable of that, so you can joust with it for massive charge damage.

I am having a big time issue. I've been researching a lot, and my weapon says it has One-Handed / Two-Handed mode, but when I put the shield away my character doesn't seem to care that I'm pressing 'X' and he is holding the weapon with Two-Hands regardless. Do I need a perk or anything special to have that function ?

devs hate fun and player choice?

The only advantage that one-handed has over two-handed is the use of a shield. For what reason would you want to use a one-handed weapon without a shield? I may be missing something but I can't think of any situation where using a one-handed weapon without a shield is advantageous in any way.

For strictly one-handed weapons, there is a perk that allows the one-hander to deal more damage when used without a shield. The only reason I can see where someone would choose to deliberately handicap themselves by using a one-hand/two-hand weapon as a one-hander without a shield is skill raises, but there is nothing gained by not using the shield.

The change puts the functionality in line with how one-hand/two-hand polearms function, and it is a welcomed change. It was silly that you had to put away your shield and switch weapon modes before you could effectively use your one-hand/two-hand weapon. Now, it's a seemless transition.

thats actually really stupid. we should have the ability to choose to do 1 handed or 2 handed with a one/two-handed weapon without shield, 2handed attacks on horseback look retarded.

Actually yes...although i havn't checked in bannerlord (so maybe not), but in warband on horseback you have a very limited number of attack animations available to 2h. So, being able to use a 1h/2h in 1h mode on horseback is advantageous for the additional attack animations.

Yeh I really do not understand why they didn't simply do as warband does. Weapon defaults to which ever option you selected last, when it can. So if you have it set to 1h, shield or no shield up it will stay 1h....and if set to 2h, shield up it goes 1h, shield down it goes 2h.

Duellist perk is very strong. My one handers almost do my two handers damage.

The manual switch has been removed/deactivated by the devs for some reason.

It seems to be automatic now. A 1H/2H weapon will always be a 2H unless used with a shield then it changes to 1H.

I hate this TBH

It´s so annoying, I likes to fight against polearms with one hand and now we can't, at least enable the option in the menu for doing it manually...

Why? There is nothing gained from doing so. You would be better off carrying a dedicated one hander, or simply chucking your 1H/2H on the ground and picking up any other one hander to use instead.

I don't think you get the point

It's not a question of min/maxing. You aren't even choosing the min. You are choosing a penalized version of the min, a sub-min. I get that you want the option: more is always better, right? But, by that logic, we should be allowed to swing a spear, thrust an axe, or throw any weapon if we so desire. These options add nothing of substance to the game, and merely bog down the controls with more options for the sake of options.

There are times I will thrust a swingable spear, use a swingable spear with a shield, use a one handed weapon without a shield, use a javelin as a spear, or wield a throwing axe as a one hander. There is no point where I can ever see myself or anyone else using a 1H/2H in one hand without a shield in a combat situation that actually mattered. I mean, unless I was playing on easy mode or something and just really wanted to belittle the NPCs. You aren't playing on easy are you?

Can we at least agree that it was inane that the default handling for a 1H/2H weapon when removing the shield was one handed? The devs can add the switching back in, but there is no reason it should be default. Those of us that would never use one handed mode without a shield can continue to never use it, and those that want to handicap themselves can manually switch to their weapon of negative effectiveness.
