Pretty much this when it comes down to it
The only benefit of bannerlord is the gfx. Everything else is worse
There's a few trivial things here and there, but absolutely nothing worth the massively increased price tag unfortunately.
Anything extra in bannerlord can be got with mods in warband, including gfx mods
Well there is some. But i wouldn't buy the game yet. It will probably take a year or so of patching to make it decent.
I would say in the current state Warband is the superior game, however I would recommend getting bannerlord as just this past week of patches has actually been sorting out a lot of the big bugs and issues.
In the end, I actually enjoy Bannerlord Vanilla more than I did Warband Vanilla.
As of now, Bannerlord has a lot to offer (including awesome battles that are a huge strongpoint), but an obvious downside to that is the fact that it's in early access and many features are unfinished.
Warband is complete and accompanied by hundreds of mods and overhauls that can improve your experience (the vanilla experience in Warband is a bit old, at least for me).
Everything that was in Warband is in Bannerlord and has been expanded. (I'm not sure what game the naysayers are playing...)
And, there are many features and gameplay activities in Bannerlord that are not in Warband.
Bannerlord is focused on more of a "long play" approach, with many different things to do and a large assortment of skills and fine-tuning possible for player characters/companions that aren't reflected in Bannerlord.
Keep in mind this is an Early Access version. There's a ton of fine-tuning to do. There are bits and pieces that need ramping up and some that need ramping down. Progression seems to be very variable between players as far as I can see from posts.
There's much more support in Bannerlord for different "play styles" than in Warband. There's a great deal of variety there, too, in terms of in-game activities. Some need more fleshing out, but their foundations are already in-game.
Here's what I suggest if you think you'll like a game like this - Buy Warband. Play it a bit. Keep in mind it's a much more "simpler" version of the sorts of experiences you'll get in Bannerlord. Then, go find some really good mods for Warband. I'd suggest Prophesy of Pendor. It's a hard mod in the lexicon of Warband mods, but it has many added features and some of those have counterparts in Bannerlord. Play that for awhile and then check out some other large, well regarded, mods.
By the time you do that, Bannerlord will be much further along in its EA and it may be time for you to take the plunge if you've found you really enjoy modded Warband. (Warband is, IMO, still worth it's purchase price even though Bannerlord is now in EA. It's a darn great game and there are so many great mods out there for it.)
