You can also crush through blocks with enough speed.
Also your weapon's hitbox has to collide with theirs, it's not just "chamber frames" as far as i know
eg. the opponent swing from the right, you aim right when he is about to strike (remember, in singleplayer the time for them to aim and strike you is easy to learn and identify, less so in multiplayer)
So just one more time for dummies.
1. The opponent releases the attack
2. Right before he hits me, I release as well from the same direction?
From my own testing it seems like you are correct but...
2b. Your attack cant be too late in its start, clicking attack right as they are about to hit you seems to just end with you being hit anyway which makes chambering really hard with slower weapons or against weapons with really fast attacks :/
You have to start your attack with that timing. Basically you are deflecting the enemy's weapon with your windup and then striking him in one single action.
