Everyone is faster than you and it needs to stop
I literally get outpaced by entire armies while only having 30 troops. (and no, not too much baggage or prisoners). It needs to be patched, quickly!

You can speed up your infantry by having multiple spare horses.

Get lots of horses. It works wonders
Noma Apr 6, 2020 @ 5:59am
Bannerlord requires the player to hoard insane amount of horses for your troops to move at a decent pace. Put around as much horse in your inventory that you have soldiers, and it should be fine (can get to 6.2 speed with 80-90 troops).

if they have cavalry or horses in their inventory, they go faster on the world map
Mountain King Apr 6, 2020 @ 6:02am
They probably have a lot more cavalry and even under your prisoner limit they still have a pretty noticeable effect on your speed. By the time you are messing with armies too much you should be getting around to having enough horses to have all your guys riding on the campaign map. You can start with crap ones like sumpter and slowly collect better ones. I top out at nearly 6 speed with an all infantry army.

If i didnt read these forums i wouldnt have known to get more horses even for infantry to ride while on the world map.

This does work, maybe it should say something about it in game.

How much goods are carried matters to and not sure about skills or the scouting role in party screen.

I have a lot of horses, and my speed is almost always 6.2 with an army of 90. It goes down a bit when I get lots of prisoners/loot.
At the moment, I can pretty much catch every one on the map.

PS: The cheapest horse does not add any map speed. (the horse which requires no riding skill to use...forgot the name)

this is stupid, i thought only cavalry or mounted infantry helps you move faster on map, but even peons peasants that are on foot, if you put random horses in your inventory somehow they are attached to thoses simps

also get a hero with good scouting skills and label him/her as 'scout' in the party page.

Nowadays that games do not provide detailed instruction manuals, they should at least provide a PDF that outlines the games mechanics. This would make the experience a whole lot better than having to rely on trial and error and snipbits off forums.

How is that stupid? "Somehow" they are attached? They are attached because you are allowing your footmen to ride horses for transportation so that you can move at a decent rate, because you are an intelligent commander. Or at least that's the assumption the game is making, perhaps it should reconsider.

Your speed is calcualted the same way as everyone else. Having more units slows you down greatly. Therefore, your band of 30 might still not be able to catch up with a band of 11 looters.

Morale speeds you up. Cavalry units are MUCH faster than soldiers. Wounded soldiers slow you down, as do prisoners, as does cargo.

hello from the future!
guess what!
It's gotten worse!
Theres way more mechanics, icons, numbers, and more! and nary a tooltip explanation to be found!

so...

One of the tooltips in game says something along the lines of 'pack horses allow you to carry more and mounts for your troops provide your party with more speed'. And i got to say, in warband i was lost when i started playing a long time ago but found all info i needed and more online, same goes for bannerlord and a plethora of games i have played. Not a big thang for me.
