Select the appropriate choice when creating your character.

you can gain mercy or honor (dont remember which) after fighting a battle with an enemy Vassal, and choosing the option "you fought well, i am letting you go". It takes quite a few to see any effect, I'll tell you now. consequently, if you execute an enemy vassal, it quickly gives you negative honor and you become Devious. Generosity I'm not sure, but sometimes when i'm in an army it says "you share some food with starving members of the army", maybe this raises it after a while?

Just guessing at this point

Pretty sure gifting people things through barter also increases generosity. Thanks for help, will now proceed to engage everyone on the map and then let them go.

Is this true? It would help explain the fact that I've released dozens of lords without ever seeing one appear. I've been careful about the quests I accept specifically because I didn't want my first traits to be "tight-fisted", "cruel", "devious", etc.

All I know for sure about traits is that my daughter was born with the ones her mother has.

First you attac
Then you cap
Then you chop

Just make sure they end up in your prison inventory. Then when you click on them, theres an option for the chop chop.

assuming I still haven't gained any traits after freeing everyone i fight of course.

I certainly hope it isn't something as simplistic as being entirely dependent upon character creation alone. If the character's choices in the game can get them negative traits, then why would positive ones be static? That just doesn't make any sense to me...why have traits at all if that was all it was?

Idk, got Deceitful Honor -2 after having beheaded like 100 Nobles.
Jorn Stones Apr 6, 2020 @ 5:32am
It's really slow to get any.

Calculating I got from character creation.

I've only been able to get obtain valor, which I believe is due to always fighting when outnumbered and the odds stacked against me. Funily enough lords were saying they knew me for my 'valor' long before I actually got the +1 valor.

I've not been able to get either mercy/honor thus far, despite releasing every lord I capture. Not sure if it even affects them, perhaps I should not take any prisoners at all.

Generosity, so far no clue.

I think you can boost Generosity by doing quests for villagers who say they have payment for you, and you can decline it. Like, you have three options to either take all, take half, or tell them to keep it. And that might increase your generosity trait.
