First, for chuckles, try enabling VSync to see if it goes away. It probably won't, but if it does then that would at least give us a clue.
Otherwise, it's a material/rigging/mesh/ issue the renderer is borking up. It's just saying "F'it, i dunno..." This is TW's engine, so going further than that in trying to figure out "why" is up to them I guess.

But again, I only have the issue on the picture I think, but my real time battles have crashed a few time with mesh going "ball of doom" Might be related to that unit as I started using them more yesterday.
Normally happens if you get "reinforcement mid battle due to unit cap on the field.
And they are in that group. From what I saw, but I am not 100% sure.
haha...

I had units over unit cap because I use a mod that allows you to have more units.
As I found it annoying when moving units around to garrisons.
Put all into a garrison, saved. Rebooted and Bam all good.
I do not always use the mod, but the battles I was having crashes I took out all from my garrison and charged an attacker. Outside my city, I had like 600men in my party.
Reason I started thinking about unit cap was due to the problem Wanderer said about skill values to high.
AKA my unit cap was to high.
*And yes I do have more followers.. *
