How long does it take to make a baby and how do I do it?

Does it take 9 in-game months like in real life or is the process accelerated to speed things along? My character has aged 3 years in 262 days, do children also develop faster than normal?
How do I get my wife pregnant? Do I keep her in my party? Do I leave her in a fiefdom and wait a few days there? I've been married for weeks and have been dragging my wife around with me and I have had no luck.

The game doesn't have months, it has summer, winter, etc, so time is speed up in it.

My wife eventually got pregananant just by staying in my group.
