The moment you can create an army leadership becomes trivial though.

Smithing is very time consuming unfortunately.

Understatement. I've been doing nothing but smithing for IRL days and still haven't even unlocked half of one weapon category. It's absurd.

Riding. It's absurdly slow.

Is say get 2 points in leadership when you start a game (25 skill) then you can have the first perk from the start that gives a experience boost to troops so they get better faster.

Trade is easy, buy low and sell high for trade goods.
Roguery is somewhat difficult but you can get an early start by paying bribes to go into every keep (so go around every town and castle) also you get more by hiring and using bandit troops in battles.
Charm is EXTREMELY EASY- just take the bad company/mercenary company quest from lords. If you do it successfully you will get 2000 and if you start at 6 charm you will gain 2 points for the first few missions (then its 1 for a while as the exp demands increase).
Engineering is also fairly easy, just join a siege and sit on the ramp or siege tower.

Please send help i've made over 20,000 of the stupid basic sword.

Riding seems to be the hardest to lvl.

im on my 8th char and have yet to get one of them to 60.
Justin started a new char and completely specced horses and end to see if i can make it this time.

Dont crsft sword melt them and sell the Iron to make money and leveling up smithing. I found the throwing axes to be the best item to do it. They sell for 150 gold each and every Britannia town have 50 in stock every couple of days. They will give you 2 steel ingot one wood and one crappy ingot. One steel ingot is worth 200-300 so sit in a town and have fun.

Well if you think "whats the hardest skill to grind levels" it would be the bottom half of the skills. You can not sit and grind rogery, tactics, leadership ect in the same way you can grind out levels in smithing.
If you ask "what skills level slowest while playing" then id say for me its athletics, engineering, leadership, medicine.

Riding only lvl up for me when I'm riding at full speed in battle and hitting enemies.
I get no xp for just traveling around the world on horseback.
Same with Athletics.

well tbh, I am using a 2x mod for skill level ups on my 3rd campaign and its still slow. the natural leveling atm is waaaaay off and leveling charm and leadership is near impossible vanilla. if you dont plan on playing the same save for 1 year ahead, just grab a 2x mod so you can test it all out. riding is easy otherwise, just using bow and moving fast & shooting in battles

It is constant though.

Leadership is probably the most difficult to actually level, at least in the early game.

Every skill is super slow to lvl up right now,esp after u reach 100 points or so.
Leadership is a pain.

yeah, i think the game needs a perk point every 3 or 4 levels + almost double the amount of focus points, otherwise you hit the cap at level 15-17. unless the devs want you to be only skilled in few areas but it's impossible. I can only see sacrificing and not using stuff like blacksmith, engineer and medical... all else is important in terms of utility skills. i had to edit my character at level 17 and add like 8 focus points because all my combat skills were capped and not growing at like 80-120. but thats the only way if you build SOC & INT like 4-5 and invest alot of focus into steward, ldrship, charm etc... which you NEED to grow an empire
