Create an imperial faction
Hey,

So I'm currently trying to create my own faction. I am clan tier 3, I got 100 troops, but then I need to be an independent clan and I need to own an imperial settlement.

The thing is, how do I get to be an independent clan? I have a clan with 1/6 companions, but the box is still not checked. Do I need to fill all 6 spots?

How do I get my own imperial settlement? I don't get it, I joined one of the imperial factions, and attacked a castle from the enemy, which is Sturgia in this case, but the box is still not checked. Have I done something wrong? Is anybody able to help?

Thanks in advance!

Wait, can you tell us where exactly you are in the story?

Did you already collect all three Banners?

Hi, sorry. Yes, I did talk to Istiana and collected the 3 banners.

I think imperial settlements are the ones owned by XXX empires. Like northern western southern. The non-empire ones are the non-imperials. I was at war with multiple factions before creating my own kingdom, and after creating my own kingdom you will make peace with every faction by default. So don't worry about making some people angry. Even if you did, paying around 30k usually resolves the problem.

Hm, does it even matter if it is imperial or not?

I created a non-imperial Kingdom using an imperial settlement, so I would have figures it doesn't matter the other way around.

If you joined a faction and helped that faction conquer something, then it doesn't mean you will get anything. Any town or castle you conquer for a faction will be either voted upon who gets it, or the leader just snatches it for himself.

No guarantee to get anything.

So the imperial factions are for instance Empire? I'm currently part of Vlandia, so I just have to attack one of the castles of Western Empire for isntance? But what if the Norther Empire which Istiana is in, gets mad because I attacked the western empire? Then I can't fulfill the quest maybe?

Ahhhh ok, so I'll just have to attack for instance a castle from the western empire? But what's with becoming an independent clan? How does that work?

I don't think Istiana cares what you do until you pick your decision. You pick your decision when you met the requirements and talk to Arg or Ist to form a kingdom.
Like I said I was at war with 3 kingdoms and ended up becoming peaceful with everyone at the instance my kingdom was created.

Hm, how about I tell you what I did? Maybe it'll help.

Earn money. A lot of money. At least 20k. If you can, try to imprison at least one lord if the enemy.

Fill your party with High-End troops. If you have not enough, recruit as many as possible and hunt looters, auto-resolve the battle. For whatever reason, looters will never kill any troops of yours, but every battle will level up at least a couple troops.

Maybe that's a bug.

Once you have a strong party army, look for a town or castle that you could conquer alone. Just from what is inside the target.

Now of course you probably couldn't do it alone (without the help of a Kingdom) because before you are ready to assault the target the enemy will have gathered all its lords to attack you with a huge numerical advantage.

Now here's what you can do, it's what I did:

Collect influence to create an army with other AI Lords, at least 200 or better 300 troops. Start to siege the target. Because of the sieze of your army the other AI enemy lords that gathered won't attack.

As soon as you have build all the siege equipment, and now comes the twist, leave the Kingdom. Just leave it.

Once you done that, the army will disperse but you are still in the siege. Most likely the enemy Lords will start moving towards you since they are now big enough to defeat you.

Now start the siege and win.

Voila, your own castle or town.

Now you just go to an enemy lord and barter for peace and you have your own settlement.

That's how my Kingdom started ;) .

so your real answer now, You have to NOT BE in any faction to be independent then you have to take any fief you want for yourself, dont worry too much on diplomation, as soon as you make a faction everyone is neutral

On your question of settlements, whether you are part of an existing imperial faction or your own, you gotta capture settlements imperial in culture for it to count. And you need "2/3rds" of all imperial culture settlements to beat the quest Unify/Destroy The Empire. This guide might also help:

No problem ;) .

Tell us if it worked! Hopefully (for you) it wasn't just a bug that helped me.

Beware though that you'll get a -20 relation hit for every lord of the Kingdom you left, so they won't be very fond of you anymore.

I did it and it worked! Thank you!

I have another question tho, sorry haha. So now I have my own kingdom, but my next mission is to restore the Empire you should capture 2/3 of settlements with imperial culture. Now I have to become enemies with one of the empires and capture a settlement. Is it possible to stop the war afterwards? Sorry, might be a dumb question.

Happy that my trick worked ;) . I wasn't sure if I just got lucky, but good to know it works.

Yes, you can always make peace afterwards, and with at least one city the cost shouldn't be too much of a problem giving the income you get.

Just make sure to start the war only when you have saved a good amount of cash, and try to capture a few lords.
