Intel i7-7500U can't handle it - is the game really this CPU intensive?
I knew the game would be taxing on the CPU but I didn't expect it to be too much for my laptop's processor. I have:
Intel I7-7500U 2,7GHz
16GB RAM
SSD harddrive
Radeon RX 580 8MB GPU.

The game is very laggy (20-30fps) in the campaign map (obviously lots to simulate) and on fights with over 50 soldiers. Smaller fights run smoothly and look amazing!

I know it's the CPU since changing graphics settings has zero effect on fps.

I hope there would be some optimization coming along in the future, but might be completely the opposite if the game actually gets more complex.

You will never get enough optimization to get over this hump.

Im usuing 6-8 threads on my 3900x.

Your CPU is not good enough for modern gaming.

Lets be real here, Thats a 25wat chip, that is falsely called an i7 even tho it only has 2 cores. When i look it up, its all in the i7 info... what a load of crap.
Its an i3 at best.

sorry bro, the CPU is on the weak side
here's it compared to

a CPU from the same generation, but for gaming
a CPU for gaming from a newer geneation:

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i7-7500U-vs-Intel-i5-7300HQ-vs-Intel-i7-8750H/2863vs2922vs3237

game is very VERY CPU intensive. maybe wait for optimization updates, upgrade your rig our look into services like Nvidia' Geforce Now .

Good luck

I don't know if this is your issue, or if it has been fixed yet. There was an issue where the game would default to the wrong "adapter," choosing the wrong Graphics card. If you go into your video settings the option to change it can be found there.

Edit: only saw the above posts after submitting, that's likely the issue.

Honestly I blame Intel for there crazy nomenclature the confuse's everyone.... Sometimes an I5 is better then and I7 sometimes and I3 is better then an I5 etc etc...

When you look at the Recommended CPU being an I5-9600 People don't seem to understand thats like the 19th best benchmarking CPU on the entire market.... and it has 6 cores etc etc...

They Just see I5 and think oh I have an I7 I am good....

Thanks guys! That's what I feared... I need to start looking for a new PC.

Oh i do, I also blame intel for selling people obsolete crap. 4 core cpus have been on the way out for some time. MOST new engines coming out will gladly use more than 4, this game included. But intel to this day is still selling garbage.
Basicly a hacked for speed 10 year old architechture with some tweaks thrown in to suck you in...

It sucks for the OP but that chip was obsolete the day it was made.

LOL I mean a 2500k i5 from 2009 is WAY faster than that, and came out 7 years earlier.....
Intel is a scummy company with naming and rehashing.

YES. The game is calculating hundreds of independent AI, this is significantly taxing on any CPU. The fact it's even possible to have up to 1000 units on screen on any consumer PC with these visuals is a technical feat.

For the longest time the I5 was the ideal gaming CPU, the i7 was only really useful for multimedia processing and rendering. But even in modern days theres so few games that take advantage of a full i7, i still build everything with an I5. lol

maybe you get lucky and can subscribe to this:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-eu/geforce-now/memberships/

it supports M&B II : Bannerlord

Well I wouldn't quite go that far...

Intel certainly has its faults but they have done some good things for the gaming world..
They gave up knowledge to AMD to help them improve they certainly didn't need to do that!

And Now AMD has taken that knowledge and capitalized on it... I think its good we remember that Intel had industry on lockdown and never had to share their tech with AMD they simply did it so the entire industry could progress!

apparently this game is ridiculously RAM intensive. shutting down chrome actually helped the performance. might wanan consider getting an additional 16gb

I would. And this info amd is running with now? it didnt come from intel LOL
It came from Jim Keller. And the second he was done with the Ryzen and his contract was up, Intel grabbed him.

Intel is a great tech company who has tonnes of cool inovations . BUT in the CPU they have been lazy and eclipsed by a better design.

I have NO idea what you are talking about, Intel didnt help amd build the ryzen lol

If anything the ryzen is the (working) natural evolution of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ FX chips. Lots of cores, doing lots of things. Keller designed the k8 Athlon as well, the last chip that kicked intel ass. So no, Whenever Keller works for AMD they seem to just leap ahead of intel. Becuase intel sits on designs WAY too long.

Surprisingly, I've been able to play today quite alright. Switching shadow detail to low actually helped a bit, even though I did try playing with the settings yesterday already - perhaps it uses cpu a lot too. Or maybe it's because I raised my laptop so that the fans cool it better :D

Which brings to my next question: does anyone happen to know what are the most cpu intensive graphical settings? I can go through every setting, but perhaps someone has immediate knowledge of this.
