Should you first join a faction, or wait until you make form your own kingdom?
On my first save i joined a faction, that didn't last long tho because the western empire took over the map pretty quickly, heard that was patched so i made a new save.

Question is, should you gain some experience first by joining another faction, or just play on your own and later on create your kingdom? What do you prefer.

Join as a mercenary first if you're not sure how exactly you want go about your campaign. If you don't care who you work for just wait and observe and then join a winning faction, raid caravans and villages, those will make you the easiest money and renown. If you want to continue as a mercenary since there's good money in it, you can always play two sides to keep the war going on for longer meaning more loot.

Its usually better to have joined a faction to build up your reputation with the other lords before deciding to go your own way.

I would not reccomend to form ur kingdome, since it is close to impossible to get any vassals.ANd kingdom stuff is not implemented like at all.So u only wanna make ur own kingdom if u want to have super hardcore gameplay and fight against huge armies on ur own(with ur clan only).

Making an own faction is insanely hard.
You constantly will face uphill battles.

its very easy to get vassals what you talking about ive got 10 in my kingdom all you have to do is persuade them with money and they will join just save the game before you talk to a lord and if it fails jus reload the save and try again.

I went for beeing my own King, and damn thats hard, currently at war with everyone with one exception the Flanderians, and loosing more men as i can replenish, so it seems i fighting a losing battle.

Often getting raided by 400 to 500 men large parties while i can raise myself only 300 men so far, yet with proper tactics i can defeat those bigger armier, yet replacing the fallen men are hard, my own towns cannot provide them enough, and recruiting them at the only friendly faction, i have to go across the map through enemy territory to recruit them.

On a other PlayThrough i stayed a Mercenairy independed clan, yet then when i took a castle on my own, it got given away, so i had nothing to say.
Yet when leaving as Merc the kingdome makes them an enemy as well, what stroke me as weird, your a hired sword afterall without loyalties, and on joining you say already as long the denars is flowing you follow him, well denars stopped flowing thus i left (they made peace) and they made me an enemy, what struck me as weird.

So i think in the end, for most players joining a existing kingdom as vassal is the righ move for the first playthrough, i havent tried that myself yet, because i read when you leave that kinddom to start your own, you lose everything to that faction on leaving, and they declair you an enemy.

It's really up to what you wanna do. For my part, I actually do either or. Sometimes one, sometimes the other... Sometimes, in rare cases, neither! For what it's worth, joining a faction first, at least as a mercenary, gives you a chance to get in on the big battles earlier and thus really develop your clan and get some experienced men under your command.

Depends on faction power, for me to get a vassal i need to bribe him 1kk gold,so i dont see how it is easy, since i cant bribe him with fiefs since system is not rdy apparently.

I know that most people want to be a ruler, but it might be more fun to be just a Vassal, since you can always leave a sinking ship and do not have all responsibility. It somehow feels like you have more freedom and decisions being a vassal than a ruler.

The game heavily discourages forming your own kingdom by yourself and from scratch, which is realistic. Nobody in their right mind would standby while some nobody steals a castle and makes a claim to the land. What you need to do is take a more Palpatine approach to it. Join as a marc to start, make some money while you raise your clan teir to 3 and set up your first handful of workshops and caravans. Once you've done that, it's time to become a vassal. By now you should have the renown from merc work to easily join. As a vassal it's important not to sit on your but because this is where all your opportunites present themselves. When armies form, go to them and follow them around picking off the small armies following them when able. Once that army enters a siege or battle, thats when you step in and aid or join the army. Most battles you join after the start will result in the person being thankful for your assistance. Sieges will be much much easier when you are with the army AND because you participated, you have a chance to be granted that castle as a fief should you take it. Keep following armies around, leaving them on occasions (there is no penalty for leaving and rejoining so use it to your advantage) to trade with nearby settlements. Donate all your prisoners to keep dungeons, this is an easy way to stack influence and since you have the workshops, you dont need the gold from their ransom. Releasing captured lords will raise your charm and relations, but it also sends them off to build another army immediately. As you follow the armies around they will make pitstops in settlements. Use this opportunity to talk to them in person in the lords hall or play backgammon with them there. Eventually long into the game you will have been granted some fiefs, made some friends with generals and lords, and also made some enemies. At a certain point and with enough influence, you can begin your succession into power via infiltration. You will need your friends around when you decide to rebel against the leader of your lands. This can be done a few different ways, elections, rebelling, muder, you name it. The key is to be ready with allies when you do take over so you aren't immediately snuffed out by the remaining faction. Hope this helps.

Great answer! This made me want to start a new campaign by creating a new Imperial character named "Shiv" of the clan "Palpatine".
