Prisoner recruiting - How does it work?
What makes prisoners want to join the army?
If its based on time, does the timer reset if you put them in the dungeon and then take them back out?
Are there units that will never want to get recruited ever?
Im so annoyed that there is no way to see which, how and when prisoner gets recruited at all. I have a feeling im carrying around prisoners that will never join, wasting my time. Might be just a random chance with smaller chance of higher units, which makes sense but it doesnt seem to be the case.

I think its based on time and the quality of troops. For example looters will let u recruit faster than bandit. I haven't seen high tier troops offering me a chance tho so i am not sure if it just takes longer or u cant recruit elite troops

i think it is a time thing maybe im not sure was able to recruit looters at one point. maybe Rouge skill

Seems like if i have lower amount than my max so like 80/170 troops, then i am able to recruit prisoners faster as well. While also depending on what Handicap said about quality

By the looks of it the time it takes to recruit prisoners is tied to unit tier. Low tier units like looters and peasants are ready for recruitment quickly, but it could take a week or more for a higher tier unit (like a vlandian knight) to join you. If I get high tier units I usually just ransom them, and sometimes get to recruit 1 or 2

Your 'roguery' skill might also play a part in how quickly/what tier will be able to be recruited. Not certain of this, though.

I think it also depends on your social skills. Idk which in skilltree it is, but some prisoners need a specific skill to enlist them.

It depends on a bunch of factors. If you are the same culture as the prisoners, they will join you more often. If they are actual soldiers, they will resist joining you. If they are high-tier soldiers, then it will take a long ass time for them to be willing to join you. It probably also depends on you charm, leadership, and maybe roguery skills.

When ever one is willing to join you though. Another number will be added to that unit in the party menu. It's like towards the center and has like a chain symbol next to it. Then you just click on that unit and hit recruit

I would think charm or leadership might play a role, but I've definitely noticed my roguery increases when I recruit them, so I imagine assuming that is a major stat for it would be fair.

Im inclined to believe this theory. I would love to hear it if someone can confirm it.

You are probably right. Hopefully someone will make a guide explaining the mechanics of it all tho. Maybe Ive been playing it wrong the entire time! Entirely possible, knowing myself.
I got a sea raider's chief to recruit relatively quickly (a couple of days), the sea raiders he was with still haven't a week later, so there's a big random. element somewhere.

Surprised no one has mentioned renown, that also has to be a factor...?

I'd say hight moral and good food. Win a couple of fights and they will want to join you. Hightest I got were Sea Raider Chief and a hight tier Azerai bowman.

I play as a nordheimer. Sturgeon? Ye... That must be it.

Yes, I knew how to recruit those willing. Was just curious about the mechanics. If they are that complex, that would likely explain why some units seemed far less willing to get recruited, even within the same tier. Do you think the prisoners will lose their progress toward recruitment if they are stored in the dungeon to be taken out at a later time?

Im not sure food or morale has anything to do with it. At least it doesnt help you recruit any more at any given time. I may be wrong tho. Its either a very complex system of changing percentages or a static percentage based on tier. Ive been trying to take over the north so Ive been executing left and right up there, lol. I decided to pay for peace when it cost 10000. Seemed fair price for a little breathing room. Executing is exhausting, you know..
