What's the point of two handed weapons?
Like they are kinda useless lol. (Playing in realistic mode)

I wanted to play as a 2 handed viking who throws axes.... but even hiding behind my men I get 2 shot by arrows and you cant block arrows with a two hander....

But when I play with a shield I can just sit there for days taking arrows while my archers pound them to death. I can also kill way more people with a shield too and I can get close to enemy archers with it.

With two hander... well... you cant block arrows.... so you cant get in close....

Even if you hide behind your troops when there is around 100 archers shooting arrows at your troops even if your behind them your gona get hit....

Seems unless you play with a shield your gona have a massively hard time. Archers just dominate.

I did try using a shield to get in close to the enemy then switching to two hander but... yeah I just got shot in the head by his friend behind him while switching from my shield to a two hander....

I know I know..... "git gud" or... "you suck" maybe your right.... but I do fantastic with sword and shield... and I tank the arrows and damage for my soldiers with my shield...

I dont know.... any thoughts?

actually... later on in the 2h tree there you gain the ability to block arrows with 2h... dont know if it actually works though cus half the stuff in the game doesn't work.

this isnt mordhau. archers actually dominate. distance, high ground. trick is, dont go after them and they cant do anything. else flank them with cav. its all about strategy in this. if youre choosing to carry a 2 hander on foot, you have to base your movements off that.

Nothing claps harder than a two handed axe swung while sprinting full speed. Save for maybe a two handed axe swung while on horseback. Two handed weapons are excellent when you don’t have archers picking you off or you are part of cavalry charges and have good timing. In siege battles they’re great cuz you just do the top attack and thwack people all day.
well ... what did you expect? that you become immune to arrows? :P
you can always have a shield in the 2nd slot and use that until you get close

I saw that but it's really far in the tree that's a 275 two hander skill lol.

Sounds pretty realistic. Going after one archer without a shield or some other cover in a real medieval war would be absolute-effing-suicide. Especially multiple archers. Especially if they've got high ground too.

There are swords in the game that alternate between 1h and 2h. Use one of those with a shield to close in, then switch to 2h mode(by putting the shield back) and go to town.

For mounted combat. (just a joke, bastard+shield would be better)
For roleplaying purposes. (and that's the serious answer)

I'd personally use a Two Hander on horseback, a One Handed Sword has limited reach, while if you bring out a giant axe + spear, shield, javelin combo on horseback, you'd be sorted in field battles, as well as a very powerful weapon in sieges if you use it right.

Guys I already said I used a shield lol 😂 I'm not silly enough to go after archers without a shield aha. It's when switching from shield to two hander while in combat you get picked of by archers behind the guy your about to hit with your two hander as you can no longer deflect arrows.

2 handers seems fun but blocking arrows in realistic mode seems top priority over anything else.

Ok two handers on horseback now that sounds like it might work

Arrows should hurt. MY problem with them is that your infantry doesn't use shields unless they are in melee range. Imperial Legionnaires just casually jog towards archers while getting shot to ♥♥♥♥ instead of using their shields like a sane person would.

There is a reason no one used 2 handed weapons until later when plate became advanced enough that you no longer needed a shield.

Well that's a balancing thing, I think it's okay for archers to pin-cushion you of you expose yourself to them with a 2h weapon, that's kind of the point.

However I feel they are underpowered because without auto-block is much harder to fight against everything else.

Probably a "git gud situation" but I feel that blocking with 2h should be a bit more forgiving than it is right now.

There are sword that can be used either 1h or 2h. Early Retirement, one of the tourney rewards, is fantastic. It's like the Bastard Swords in Warband. It has 115 reach and if you use it 2 handed in sieges, it still 1shots most enemies.

Oh I solved that problem with infantry and shields. I always say "infantry form a shield wall" and they raise their shields but they walk a lot slower so that's the downside I guess....

But I demolish ranged with my shield wall infantry with that tactic
in warband i always used a twohander with a shield (POP) if you are skilled enough you feel like an uruk. oh "lord" did i just mix two franchises...
