Crossbows cost 43K???

Why are crossbows so expensive??? When I started the game I started with a bow even though I picked all crossbow skills, and at first crossbows would all cost like 22k from every town that sold them, but now it has gone up to 43k. Ok??? I guess I'll use bows instead... I was really looking forward to using crossbows.

I'm curious about this too - there is no reason for a crossbow to cost more than decent armor. it makes no sense. lol

Really seem to be trying to discourage crossbows :p Which is a tad ludicrous when there are so many crossbow weilding basic troops about. :p

hehe yes thats to expensive ^^ you can buy 3 workshops/caravans for one crossbow^^ This crossbowtroops must be very rich ^^

That's definitely way too expensive. I don't think it's intentional, although as of the last patch they went from 20k up to 40k, so that's kinda ridiculous. One weapon shouldn't cost more than a workshop (hell, two workshops) and a decent set of armour lol

historical accuracy? the process of banging out a brestplate and fitting straps etc is much simpler than building a crossbow. It needs a lot of work to make a crossbow good and durable with the tools available.

Considering how many troops in game have them, I don't think they're worth 40k in reality.

it depends on the cities economy if its the only ranged weapon available its normal its expensive even if its not amazing same goes for armor depends on supply and demand

In my experience they're 40k in every city, and they were all 20k before this patch

Historical accuracy goes out the window when a single crossbow costs FAR more than the process of raising, equipping, and maintaining a force of 100+ soldiers, 20 of whom are Knights. The prices in general have been HEAVILY inflated since the last update, and I see this as a bug or poor attempt at balance.

There's no way they were that historically expensive to mass produce - military forces needed them and the raw materials alone aren't even worth .001% of that cost.

Highest price i've seen was a imperial heavy armor for over 600k. the regular version of the armor is nowhere near that expensive but some items get legendary stats that make the price skyrocket. in this instance the armor weighed like 12 where as it normally weighs over 25. I would have loved to buy it but i was about 40k short
