Just fighting battles. Which sucks. The grind for renown and influence, and pretty much everything else is just awful. IT really takes the fun out of the game.

Win tournaments. 3 renown per victory adds up. It's more fun and profitable than hunting bandits, anyway. You could also join a faction as a mercenary and follow their armies around for sieges and such. It's probably faster than the first method, but it's less consistent.

Tournaments. Win one + go back to the arena an ask the guy in there where the next ones are. He will tell you of two locations. Repeat.
Tournaments like stated above.
I once beat an important leader 2:1 by getting in a river bed so his horsemen all got stuck on rocks and I won like 55 renown from that.
If you can find castles to siege easily by yourself you can score about 30 off that.
big mountain bandit hideouts can also net like 5-7 renown. I'd avoid forest bandit camps though.

If you keep fighting 20 looters with your 40 man army, sure you only get 0,5 or 1 renown. The more difficult the odds the more renown.
With a decent siege you get upwards of 10 and it start from there.

Create an army and go attack enemy groups or siege.

Tournaments until you can start fighting 50vs50 armies.

An easy way is to merc for a faction and join an army. The problem with this is unless you want to vassal up, leaving that faction will make them hate you, which is completely idiotic. The relations system in this game is basically ♥♥♥♥, since even abstaining from votes while a vassal makes people dislike you, there are so many ways to get people to dislike you, and so few to get them to like you, but it is a fast way to get renown.

It's not that bad. I'm almost at clan rank 4 after 42 hours playing.

I just fought battles for the first 40 hours.

Now all I'm doing is trading.

Want to see how fast I can level this goofy trade skill.

I keep my party to 20 men and run the tournament circuit. Kill bandit and hideouts along the way while winning tournaments. Keep the party small and elite, so when you hit those 30-40 loot groups you can get good renown hits for being out numbered. Progressing main quest give alittle also.

My renown was broken, I spend three hours completing missions, fighting and and winning tournaments, and renown stayed at 113. Restarting the game fixed it, but wasted 3 hours.

Fight with only companions vs bandits armies of 20+. A 60 man looter army gives 10 renown or more.

That only works in very easy 1/3 mode rly, or you try to hide companions and try kill them all yourself with bow.
I just gather the bois and a bunch of horse and hunt anyone with the name "looter"

Don't get an army or keep a small army that we you get more reknown for killed bigger groups of bandits....

A couple horse archers and companions with steppe bows is all you need to farm reknown!
