Sea Raiders best bandits to hunt?
Seems to me they are, they often have really expensive stuff considering they are merely bandits and you get no penalty like you do with raiding.
So farming them seems really good.
They also have no cavalry so you always get them too.

Seem like the best targets for bandit hunting.
They are mildly dangerous tho, most dangerous of the bandits I'd say, their throwing spears pack a punch.

Forest bandits are not bad either but they drop far less often and seem to pretty dangerous for it even on low level soldiers.

Yes. They are. Good loot and good potential recuits if you wan't use them. Upgrading until sea raider chief without disciplinarry perks.

can confirm they are the most profitable bandits to hunt, as well as being the most dangerous due to their javelins, followed by forest bandits which have bows. they ransom well, too.

Nice. I just went up there now and realized how amazingly high value their stuff is.

Wish I realized earlier
Yes, same as in Warband.

Sea Raiders also offer the best XP per kill of bandits, so it's a good way to grind low tier troops once you have some solid medicine that can save people from insta death javelins.

One sea raider party, I managed to get a Western Hauberk, which is like a T6 armor, along with a Norse Warlord's helmet (T6 also).

Forest bandits are tougher than their rewards justify, though high tier Forest Bandits drop some of the best Battanian gear. You need a good shield wall to beat forest bandits though. Once you have maybe 10 solid T3 melee with large shields, they pose no risk, just shield wall, and march into them. Once you close the gap they draw swords and go down really easily.

Forest bandits are extremely vulnerable to "Hammer and Anvil" Tactics, so even if you're outnumbered 3:1, you can pull a win pretty easily with good tactics.

Most profitable, especially if you have a huge army of peasants to throw at them.

Their hideouts are a pain though, being pelted by arrows in almost all direction, it's like you need to bring shields and then use a bow to bait them to waste arrows at you (since shields takes little to no damage from arrows).

I haven't had much difficulty with their hideouts, the trick is, like you said, bringing shields. YOu don't need to bait forest bandits, just have your AI follow you close, with shield wall formation, and simply march down their throat. They draw swords at about 5m away.

I have more trouble with Sea Raider Hideouts, because half my troops spawn in a wall and get killed right away.

To me the javelins are FAR more dangerous than arrows since I have 100 high tier cavalry.
Something's GONNA be hit no point in managing and arrows are too slow and too weak to wreck havock, but a javelin might still get one of my guys.

But forest bandit hideouts are LITERAL hell.
I can't decide who to take with me so shield walling would be great.
If the randomly selected lot have shields.

I hunt sea raiders for prisoners and equipment. Mountain bandits for food and horses. Nothin like stomping out a group of three mountain bandit cavalry and walking away with 21 sumpters or slapping down a modest group of sea raiders and hauling enough equipment to outfit armies. Forest bandits? lolno. Woodland snipers just ain't worth the trouble.

I have a feeling this will be addressed too. It's way too profitable.

The thing with mountain, steppe and desert is that if you have a large army and they often are 6 cavalry, you just can't keep up and they get away easily.
Gustavus Octopus Apr 3, 2020 @ 2:05pm
Yup been making a fortune annihilating them with a stack of horse archers

Set formation and wait for the cavalry to come to you. Prioritize them while your troops deal with the ground units.

But then again going up against steppe bandits is a death wish in the current iteration anyway.

Steppe bandits aren't dangerous to me lmao
I try to hunt them but they seem really rare to me, even in the frozen northern wastes.

Get a companion with decent Scouting and set them to that role if it's not a skill you're working on improving. Once I did that Hideouts started popping up all over the place.
