Can I leave a faction and keep my holding?

Can I join a kingdom, get a castle and then leave the kingdom again and keep the castle? Whats the repercussions?

There's a particular term for this...it's called a rebellion.

not sure if that is possible since you start out as a nobody for the most part, unless you casually win over someone's favor which i havnt invested into for them to just hand me a castle

If you keep your holdings they will declare war and all members will receive a massive relation debuff towards you. If you form a kingdom after leaving (through the quest), you will no longer be at war with them. The latter might be a bug.

Do I get my own castle while the quest to form a kingdom or do I have to conquer it?

you can, but then that faction will declare war on you in the name of treason. Also getting a castle part might be tricky, I did so by joining Vlandia who's fighting Battaian at the moment and joined one of their siege, weirdly Vlandian army retreated from the siege after killing almost all defenders so I used my 50 men army to finish them off and conquered the castle. Later I vote in the kingdom menu that this castle should be mine and the council passed with 33% approval (Thx RNG). Soon later I quit Vlandia choosing to keep my fief and made peace with Battania and helped them conquer Vlandia ever since.
