It's a medieval sandbox RPG. There is no storyline but the storyline you create for yourself. The game mechanics give you enough options for emergent gameplay. You can be an outlaw, a trader, a raider, be a mercenary for a king, become part of a kingdom and partake in sieges, get a fief like a castle, village or city from your king. Become a king yourself and create a kingdom. Fight in tournaments to make a name for yourself. Marry and have children. The game just gives you endless ways of roleplaying possibilities.
The only other remotely comparable games I know are Kenshi and Starsector.
This really, especially if we get 100 year wars MOD, just awesome then. Napoleon DLC was awesome also. So much fun.
That's exactly what makes this game so good.
It´s also a little like Total war without all the complex politics and you can participate yourself in the battles.
EVentually there will be mods, which letts you dive into the worlds of LOTR, StarWars, GameOFThrones etc. pp.
Another thing that does indeed make it fun is the eventual huge battles you get into. Those can get really intense. As you get more comfortable and the battles become less jarring, you start to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment as you go from a wide-eyed greenhorn experiencing his first command to a grizzled veteran who's seen the tricks and is comfortable at the helm of an army of hundreds.
Everything else is a bonus really.
Just save and loading crashing me and corrupt my saves, man im having a blast
Absolutely. They hopefully slow the steamrolling down a bit I am sure they will quickly. I heard there are a couple of mods to help against someone rolling the whole map. Hope to play more this weekend.
Yeah I remember them mentioning several ways they want to try and tackle this issue. They did say that of course it can never be completely prevented, it's within game design that it's possible for a kingdom to become super large on it's own, but it shouldn't happen earlier than 20 years in they said. Some fixes can probably be applied soon but other things (like rebellions) will only be applied in the coming months.
Yeah, and that's fine. I'm alright with it being possible, I just want it to be a little less normal. :D
Not in the main game of course, unless a mod adds it. Timeframe barely fits crossbows let alone firearms.
Perhaps a renaissance DLC, or hell maybe they'll simply add another time period to choose from.
