Protagonist is too old?
This has been pestering me since I first noticed my character's age.

But why the heck do you start at Age 30? No seriously, at this time in age most of your life is now behind you, and being 35 myself now, 30s suck I can feel myself getting stiffer, and everything is already getting harder year by year, so it makes no sense starting the game so old already. Your character should be going down hill by this point in the game, not progressing and becoming considerably stronger. At this point in life you would already have a family, and possible in a few more years even grand kids. Not just starting your life.

I honestly think they dropped the ball on this aspect of the game, you should be a young adult at most, early twenties, not already middle age when you start your adventure.

I think devs enforce this way heir system, like you're supposed to make a child as your character during playthrough and have it ready to replace your main or it's gameover due to old age. not sure whether feature's functional but i think that's terrible idea too. on top of that, apparently they age by year not after 365 in-game days but after 100-ish days. one year is counted as three basically.

For the record Genghis Khan was 44 when he started his reign and the whole conquering thing.

I believe the troops wouldn't listen to a random whelp with no life experience. And under 30 years old that's what your character would be, plus he or she would be able to remain physically active till 60s if they play their cards right.

30 is way too old for this time period. Some men started life and saw battle as early as 12! At least 16-18 years old should be a staring age option.

That said, some men seem to do very well into their 30s to quite old in ancient days, i`m saying even into their 70s and 80s, but they tended to be rare.

p.s. Oh and being 30 really isn`t tas bad as you make it sound. You just need to stay reasonably fit.

Personally, I hope that having Perma Death off by extension allows player characters to live forever.

Except instead of being a 20-29 year old with no life experience, you instead start as a 30 year old with no life experience. Just look at how garbage your character's skills are when you start. Despite all the background stuff, your character has had an incredibly sheltered 30 years if those are all the skills they have to show for it. The only good thing about your character when you start is that they're a blank slate and you're in control of them.

For the record Alexander the Great succeeded the throne at age of 20 and died at 32.

Most of the lords and companions are over 30 too.

This is the sort of thing that can be fixed later through mods. For now, let's keep an eye on the how the game mechanics work over time.

Is there a way to export and edit our character in the current build? Tinkering with stats and age should be easy enough.
A bannerlord year is only like 4 earth months. So really, you're only 6 years old.

Dunno I have one full in-game year and couple weeks in my playthrough and my character is 33 y/o already.

And THAT is fitting for the "time period". No structured education, remember? No schools, no universities, no internet, books are rare, and your character might not know how to read.

My point was, we don't know what is "old" and "Young" in this timescale. A Calrad Year is very obviously not an Earth year.

Yeah, but they have have done something over those 30 years to have managed to survive and develop some skills. But no, all of their skills are in the 5-35 range after 30 years. How do you even manage to survive that long in this game's time period while being so useless? It boggles the mind. Suppose your character is a blacksmith and you put everything toward that. Somehow you spent most of your 30 years focusing on that one goal and you're still an incompetent scrub. I haven't tested it, but you could probably get your skill higher than that in 1 year just by turning as much hardwood into charcoal as you could every day.

To top things off, your younger brother is 5 years younger than you at the start and has skills ranging from 90 to 170. What. The. Hell? Is he some sort of prodigy or is your character just that much of a bum? It just doesn't make any sense except for as a game.

i encountered a battanian noble of age 14 (and female) leading an army of ~ 200 men.

i kinda hoped for an option to "interrupt" your character creation and more or less say "f*ck the extra skill points i wanna start young"
