Cannot Change Weapon?

I cant seem to change weapon whatsoever, when trying to equip another weapon besides iron scimitar (default weapon) it seems to go back to iron scimitar. Even when said weapon is sold, and another weapon is the only thing that you have when trying to equip them it goes back to become bare handed. any help?

does this happen if you load an older save or start a new one? devs have stated broken saves are a problem due to multiple issues they are addressing.

I tried creating a new game, considering there might be a problem with the saved games. however, i am still experiencing the same problem with the new games. I still cant equip new weapon, whenever i try doing it, it goes back into a default weapon or barehanded (if the default weapon is sold)

Are you trying to equip army equipment in your civilian slot?

I tried to equip army equipment in the army slot actually. Other equipment (horse and armors) are fine it can be equipped by other items (besides the default ones). It seems the only problem that im experiencing is changing the weapon.

Make sure you select "Done" when you set up weapons otherwise it will reset after leaving inventory menu.

I am having the same problem, I just started a brand new game, have not changed from default weapons, I can only use my bow (bow is primary weapon because I took several archery choices in character design). I can't switch to my sword at all.
The game that I first had this problem in, I could change what weapon I would have to use for the entire battle by a lot of changing back and forth, equipping companions, and trial and error, but still could not change weapons. I bound a different key to change weapon, and still had the problem, so it wasn't my mouse wheel.

Oh, also verified my game files just before creating the new game, I haven't tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling...

I am having the same issue. Purchased and installed about a month ago. All was fine for a bit, then it would not swap weapons. I unequipped the sword, went to battle. All I could use was the shield. Even though I did have a bow, with arrows equipped.

Nice Necro. No, this is not an issue. There is something that someone is missing. no "workaround" needed.

If you have a SHIELD, and A BOW, and AN ARROW (quiver) that is 3 slots. You have one left. for anything.. Can be another quiver, javlin, throwing axe etc. make sure that FOURTH SLOT is for a melee weapon (1 handed weapon). It should work.

If it does not, you either have MODS. and a broken mod.
or An OLD save game. (that has messed with some files and causing conflicts on the current patch)
or a CORRUPT game file (try Verify Integrity of Game Files)
or You are "equipping" the weapon accidentally in your civilian slot. It looks like it goes.. then when u aint looking it pops back into your inventory. (because it wasnt a civilian weapon). This is a common mistake people make often, while trying to equip their whole companion list in both New Battle gear, AND NEW civilian gear.

Anyway, No, I find it hard to blieve that someone had this issue 2 years ago (when they didn't have any idea how the game worked, and were probably just button mashing), and now someone else has that issue. but no one else did in 2 years.

It's User error. Sorry. Check out the things I suggested.
