Where to get Battanian Archers
The Battanians according to the encyclopaedia and the units I've seen the lords use have excellent archers. However I've no idea how to recruit them.

The basic units that you get from villages and towns only upgrade into Infantry and infantry with throwable weapons.

Is there a place to recruit the archer unit tree?

You have to find Battanian highborn youth in villages

their appearance is tied to something that increases over time. Certainly more powerful notables are more likely to have them and they appear more later in the game. im not sure if its because of renown or some sort of village growth,

Look for forest bandits, beat them down and recruit them. You can turn them into fians with disciplinarian skill. Combine that with finding them in villages with high influence recruiters and you can have a pretty good army of them in no time. Good luck leveling leadership though.

Get the "Disciplinarian" perk ASAP if you want Battanian archers, because forest bandits BECOME Battatian hero archers.

You heard right, those annoying bands of enemies you find everywhere are now a precious resource that is easily farmed and renewable.

Lots of bandits have useful upgrade trees, in fact.

It's tied to notable's influence and quality modificator from laws in kingdoms that rules over the settlement.

when i was looking at kingdom policies i spent some time thinking about whether militia quality affects recruits or just militia. i decided that as written its just militia but im still not sure.
